Best wishes and congrats on new place.                                                             tones

Re: Good Morning!

Hey @tonys

Perhaps I should watch a movie today...not much else on the program! lol

You take care too

Re: Good Morning!

@tonys hey Tonys take care.

Re: Good Morning!

It truly sounds like you have lived a fulfilling life, though one of hard graft, @tonys. It must be difficult to be in the throes of seriously considering letting go and leaving the life to the younger generation. It comes to all of us inevitably, doesn't it? Everything is changing in life. It is said that we can't stop progress. I don't mind progress as long as they don't equate it with change for change's sake.

Re: Good Morning!

@tonys   You ok bro? You read a bit flat this morning. Have you eaten your yogurt?

Farming/agriculture only started sporadicly about 13,000 years ago. It’s only be established in the last 7,000 years.

Modern humans have a shared DNA of H’sapien, Neanderthal and Denisovans cohabiting 200,000 - 300,000 years ago. In a nomadic lifestyle.  Globalisation and immigration right there.

Evidence of counting found on cave walls dates back to 10,000 years.

Agriculture created cities.

Science as we know it is only 200 years old.

What you observed while testing the longevity of roses, is part of an ever changing world.

In 2 billion years the continent of Australia will slam into China. All the islands and landmasses in between will be either mountain ranges or beneath the sea.

Re: Good Morning!

@Historylover  Change happens to us. All we can do, while we exist is adapt.

Re: Good Morning!

Oh  @Glisten  ,  you got me laughing.     That is without a doubt  the most perfect thing I have read in a long time.      THE WORLD DOESN'T NEED US.   Its going on my office door soon as I break out.   Yogurt boy just spilt his gruel.     It is the epitome of truth,  hey.

Yes change is etched in geology,  ongoing, inevitable, entropy at work.   I just hope I'm not giving it a helping hand.   Change is not something I view as good or bad.  It just is..  But an intelligent species making rapid changes, to the detriment of other species,   well there's to much too unpack with this and

I'm still processing.  Human mass consumption change I call it.   Micro plastics,  A recent rapid change and one I study with interest.    I'm never in a cold sweat about it but  I do prefer it over sport as a topic for discussion.

I like what @Historylover  said about change for change sake.  It put another new card on my table to add to my thinking.  Is it true that a portion of the population has Neanderthal DNA  Gecko..?.

 Incredible.

Us,   old Dutch Flower growers  are a bit of a secret society.   We exchange info every couple of years at the flower show in Holland.   We have records that date back before all those old walls started leaning into the street in Amsterdam.   You would fit right in mate.  I sit back and listen to

these old wizards talk Science.  Its way over my head,  but they are unanimous that controlled climate cropping has never been more challenging.  We use  Co2 at 800ppm because the plants we grow evolved in that saturation so you are correct  Glisten.  But this change is a bit rapid.  Particularly in our oceans,

I never actually went to school so reading  letters like your and History Lovers  is pure candy.   I retain it all,   and use it too.

So,   yogurt boy  is feeling good about up and coming changes and he never takes for granted the pearls of knowledge friends bestow upon him.

Thankyou @Glisten

One day I would love to know what you guys all think about putting the brakes on Artificial Intelligence.   Is this artificial evolution,    Should we really fear it..

OK,   here goes  @Glisten . . .   Perhaps A I  doesn't need us anymore..       Oooooo.. !

  I better bail.   Won't be back till latter tonight.      Bless ya all                      tones

@StuF   @TAB   @Former-Member   @Meowmy     and  the  awsome @Appleblossom ..

Re: Good Morning!

AI, @tonys? I have really given up on understanding people and the world in which we live, but I heard a program in the last day or two that said that the development of paper and writing was thought to be going to destroy society. That, and all other forms of social progress since such as telephone, radio, television, computers. We've even survived the mobile phone and I think it must be the majority who think it has improved our lives, but for me, I could survive a return to land line, camera and dictionary in lieu of mobile. In fact, I get nostalgic thinking about it. As for AI, for students it is tantamount to cheating. They can get the work done but it comes at a cost to their gaining knowledge by their own endeavours, I think. I'm too technologically illiterate to see beyond the classroom but they also did think mobile phones in the classroom would not be a problem. I wonder who makes these decisions?

In other words, @tonys...don't know, just don't know. Time will tell.

Re: Good Morning!

Well I'm a real late comer to the internet @Historylover .   So I hear you mate.  I met the right people,

had a hell of a  lot of luck,   and thrived ,    all without the web.   But now I have it,  well its like the ABC  tv but so much better.  Its the Uni I never got and in the comfort of my bed.

BUT,   It  nags at me.   What you say has so much truth,   because I notice now,  how it has  also become a drug of dependence.   Reminds me of some of my staff.   The more I ask them to slow down and show me how to do something technical,  the more they resist..   And I know its because they want me to become dependent on them.   When I lack the understanding of something,  Ive lost total control.   Ive lost big bucks before on this and its a hard learnt lesson.  So.   I can't understand

everything,  and the guy I pay to do this, is loosing his grip on it too.

The A I system that builds itself.   How can a brain that is not evolving at a similar speed keep up.

I wonder.   Is the time is approaching where science must find a way of rapidly evolving the human brain along side.

We become a new man made species that uses all of our brains capacity with lightning efficiency.

Perhaps a hybrid human brain,  quantum chips,  surgical marriage.       Ethics..?

I'll just bet there is a race going on somewhere,  to do just that.     I'm not entirely sure we should let our  primitive brains  hold back the evolution of this new,  AI  species.   What would the footprint of a hyper efficient A I entity be upon the  worlds ecosystems.  I bet it would dump our kindergarten programming for concepts and principles we are incapable of grasping,  in nano seconds

Its first words could be,   @Glisten s . . .  The world doesnt need us anymore.. !

   Thankyou for taking the time to get me thinking again   @Historylover    and   @Glisten .

@Appleblossom, .  .  .   ?                                                                                            tones

Hi @tonys @Historylover @Glisten @Meowmy @StuF @TAB @Former-Member @Appleblossom @tyme @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @Snowie @MDT @Oaktree

Haven't been well and slept the last couple of days which I needed with my stomach pain and only been having water when I woke a little so I think my body must have needed it. I finally woke properly about 2ish today and feeling a lot better.

Hope you have all been ok. Have read a little of the posts to see how everyone is doing and will catch up on it all tonight.

@@flying-hams hope your moving is going well

I'm  not looking forward to tomorrow and next week with our hot weather,  I think it willbe our first week of over 30 since summer started and with no air con and old house it keeps the heat in, I'm hoping to go to my friends house during the day where she has just brought herself a home just 5 minutes from me and has evaporative cooling, as can't go to my son's since he just tested positive to covid now.
