Re: Coming to terms with reality
Yes @Former-Member used to have.. Angora rabbits and Holland lops. The one i kept longest was a doe Angora with wryneck syndrom...she died last yr at 6 yrs old. No more now since nobody around to help me clean and take the carrier down to the basement carpark for outings or vet visits etc. Not easy having pets indoor on a condo though. Its prohibited actually.
Gardening..did so much of it before moving into town. Those were the good old days before i was down with fibromyalgia. Actually..i specialized in Botany during my first degree and did my thesis on antimicrobial activities of some local plants on some pathogenic bacteria. Used to have japanese rose, hydrangea, orchids, canna, camara etc in my garden.. but my favourites were heliconia and dracaena cuz they cultivate fast and fuss free. Planted green leafy vege & brinjals, ladies finger, angle bean, chillies, gingers, banana too 🌴. Ex also did hydroponics on red and green corals, butterheads, cucumbers, angle loofah, tomatoes and numerous herbs. We also sold them sometimes during sunday market when the harvest was overwhelming 😚😀. All thats left in our old hse is a mango and a pink guava trees. Cherished all these memories and opportunities. Thanks for bringing it up..😘

Re: Coming to terms with reality
WOW @Adek Fall on floor with respect.
You have rich experiences and knowledge base.
Maybe you managed your ex better than I did. I had a whole different and too complicated experience to go in to. I am only realising now, how different from the "norm" it was. I spent too long trying to "take responsibility" and heal and make a family. It was not meant to be and I had a wry neck foran enormous time. We did not have pets as a child and I am not great with animals, but I tried; rabbits, fish, cats, dog. Now just my 2 x16 yo male cats .. and learning lots more at the zoo.
Today I chatted to a nurse and was proud that I raised my 3 with only a couple of ED visits, which is pretty good considering some families tales ...
Hey tonight I went to a lecture by an expert for free in my old uni. The theatre had not changed in 30 years. I have not been in the field since then either so a bit of it went over my head but most of it I caught. Its fascinating how memory works and the associations start to flow.
I had started taking advantage of my alumni newsletters anyway, but I thought you might be happy to know. It was on Evolution of the Lithosphere.
Your thesis sounds fascinating. You can start different threads and conversations as you like in the different sections of the forum.
Have you done much camping or travelling around??

Re: Coming to terms with reality
lol @Adek I was thinking broken bones and Emergency Department, (not for M H issues.)
I always wished I had done nursing as I found live wriggling bodies tricky.
Yes it is a different phase of life. I am going to log off, not sure about your time zone, but have a good Night all, and @eudemonism
and
@A2Z @Former-Member @Former-Member
and whoever else is reading.

Re: Coming to terms with reality
Hello @eudemonism
I forgot to answer about goals I want to achieve before christmas?
A good question.....I haven't even thought about goals in the last 12 months...
so thank you for reminding me of the fact.....having goals are good
I need to put into plan some short-term goals...also long term goals
these days I think that I will have plan b handy as well.....I used to do all of this automatically ....time management...goal planning at work
it is remarkable how quickly self- organisation and self-care can disappear when mental illness takes over again
so have to have a self- care plan as well as goals.....I have started on this
I certainly wanted to spend some more time at the beach....near the ocean
my husband and I are going away for a week in december and will be near a river and ocean....looking forward to smelling that sea water - getting in some lovely walks
We did take my mum for a drive last weekend....we take her to the foreshore where she sits in the front seat of the car and watches the ocean and passersby....she is very frail and prefers to stay in the car...hoping that might change in the warmer weather if she is up to it of course...it is also meaningful for mum and also because the three of us, including my sister, scattered my dad's ashes there, discreetly, in 1999.
long term goals.....I want to find some volunteer work that I enjoy where I am not sitting or standing around doing nothing for most of the time....this is my goal for next year
As for camping.....I love camping .......out where there are no other people.......starry nights.....love it
downside....husband hates it....
@Adek you have had a couple of appointments lately how are you?
@Appleblossom hope that you and your son are finding life easier too
hello to all of you passing by

Re: Coming to terms with reality
All is reasonably well though i suppose.
I enjoy reading litreture i can relate to and actually helps my prospective and attitude and gives me a level playing field as everyone else and against the world. Instead of being used as leverage for people to rise their pitiful selves about society. Or being looked down upon for being myself. So people can have a chuckle to themselves. None of these types like it when the tables have turned. (Tasted their own medicine ) and its something to beware of when dealing with anybody. Its not a case of we in this together or we all equal. Its a case of whos better then who. So in that sense. I just do my own thing and step back from the fire. And use my own ways to help me get through. Its a never ending cycle though. I must say.
Take care all and have a great day.
