@Happyness For the last 15 years my home life has not actually been overly challenging ... apart from the usual paying of bills, cleaning, shopping, running household etc. ie., it is always WORK. It is easier to run a family and household by oneself than with an unco-operative and destabilising partner.
What has been challenging has been managing my feelings, and getting my son to leave the home, in little appropriate bits, for his own development.
I used to be so triggered by the word "home" that I did not like it when they started to introduce "home pages" on internet sites.
Selection and choice are interesting concepts, but the playing field arounf them is NOT equal.
Glad to hear from you anyway.

Hi @Former-Member
Why doesn't my psychologist understand the reasons for my wanting to SH.? She dismisses it really quickly by saying 'oh no that's not the way to cope'.
why doesn't she help me deal with it.

Hi @BlueBay
Good question! Do you think you could ask them both questions directly? That might make for an interesting and productive session. Perhaps they themselves do no not feel that comfortable talking about it, or don't want to try and understand why you would do it. But if that's the case, and you want to work on it (which it sounds like you do), then it may be really productive to try and have an open conversation with them about it. Therapy is your time after all, and if it's a goal of yours to reduce SH, then your therapist should be open to helping you with that, or referring you to someone who can if its outside their area of expertise.
supernova.
