Thanks for your kind words, @Dimity ❤️
I'm excited to tell you I managed my 15 minutes yesterday. So that's Day 1 of my new habit. I asked my psychologist on Friday before the upset, and she told me that the latest study shows that a new habit takes 70 days to form (!).
I didn't want to do my 15 minutes, but I thought of you and I did it.
I hope you are going along OK in yourself...

Welcome @EternalFlower to one of the hoarding threads... There is also the thread @Dimity started, called The magic of tidying .
@EternalFlower wrote:My parents gave me lots of storage as a kid and a big room but I never saw the,m a d when I didtyey were emotionally violent and cruel.
I'm sorry to hear about this 😞
I can relate to piles on the floor, sadly.
I hope you can find a container or jewellery box for your jewellery...

I'm so glad you achieved your 15 minutes in spite of not really feeling up to it @NatureLover . 70 days seems a long time. With my exercise and decluttering goals I told myself that I'd need to keep going for 40 days (6 weeks really) to form the new habits but I had no evidence and just relied on instinct and perhaps Biblical wisdom.
I didn't really feel up to it either but did about 3/4 hr late last night.
Fingers crossed we both reach our targets today.

Hello @EternalFlower . I hear you how trauma may underlie your situation and how it can feel as though you're continuing to punish yourself. Tidying and organising strategies can help a lot, and sometimes we come to realise we can let some things go. Well done for persevering with your efforts over a few months.

Thank you i feel like you understand my struggle as it does feel like punishing myself.
I try to work a bit on decluttering and have some wins and losses there but it does teach you about yourself. Ige kesrnt i do need to give myself more slack.

@EternalFlower I've been changing my mindset to thinking I deserve the care and attention of keeping up with chores and living in a pleasant environment.
I know I have too many belongings though. Funny word when you think about it, "belongings" - I wonder if it's meaningful - it seems caught up with our identity.
I still need to put in my time today as I spent the afternoon on other things.
Thinking of you @NatureLover.

Good luck with your 15 minutes tomorrow @NatureLover . I hope your day went well today.
I managed to get some stuff done yesterday and today. It wasn't very productive as it was mainly sorting.
