Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness

walking is probably the most basic thing to do, it's way better than not walking. Also stretching. If i stop either, can notice the difference not long after

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness

Hi @Shaz51 and everyone 🤗

For me, being able to walk outside in the fresh air is top of my list. Not only does it help with staying flexible, keeping a stable weight, keeping my bones stronger, helping with balance etc but it gets me to socialise even if it's just a hello, good morning a pat of a dog or two. People love to talk about their pets!  Keeping takeaways to once a week, not just for being healthy but keeping the costs of living down too. I wish I could say getting a good nights sleep but that is a hard one for me regardless of exercise or good sleep hygiene habits!

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness

Swings. Swings and tumbling and rolling and hanging upside down. Good for the core. Great for the brain. To quote the scholar: "Everything is upside down these days."

Physical Wellness covers a lot. This includes:

- keeping a regular routine

- sleeping at regular times

- eating at regular times

- keeping active

- socialising (talking to other people at least).

Just to name a few!

Thanks @Shaz51 for this thread 🙂

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness

@Shaz51

Walking here, too. Especially in lockdown, walking the streets in the local neighbourhood, people and pets everywhere. And most people will say g'day if you say it first 🙂

My diet is ok. I eat too much sugar, bad covid habits there. But otherwise well.

If sleep was an olympic sport I'd win gold for Australia!

Just need to push myself to do a bit more activity wise. Hoping to get back into tennis soon.

Re: 8 Dimensions of Wellness

Physical wellness is multifaceted and I do like this summary. I like how it highlights things like self motivation, stamina and vibrancy, things I would like to have more of.

Illustrations can say so much more than words ... found this one helpful.

I am beginning to realise that physical self care is really prevention. Just as we cannot stop accidents, we can do things that help reduce severity of them and lessen injury. So we cannot prevent all illness, but we can do things that will help improve outcomes. I know at one stage I felt our car was better maintained than I was ... yikes.
