@AussieGirl well I'm really glad that you have felt comfortable to open up here 🙂

I think @j___________ 's point about finding the right therapist is a good one. A good therapist will listen to you and take into consideration what you think will be best for you and open to trying a few different things.

Re: Topic Tuesday // How do you cope with trauma? // 16 Aug, 7pm AEST

As a final question that I will pose tonight, what sorts of things give you hope or keep you hopeful?

Re: Topic Tuesday // How do you cope with trauma? // 16 Aug, 7pm AEST

@AussieGirl i hear you the only way i will go back to see a counciler or psychologist is if i am speaking out openly or in my role at work.

@Bonnie yeah it is very time consuming and draining to be repeating the story. What people do not understand about services like victims service is, it is entirely up to the person with the problem to make contact and ask for help and then they are given the name of a counciler in their area and then it is up to them to make contact and make an appointment in the hope this person is the right fit. Also if not they have to restart the process all over again untill they hopefully find someone suitable that actually meets their needs and agrees with their goals on their healing journey. It is fustrating as all hell. I tried writting things out however i am not this is not accepted. So many bad fits where you are left questioning who you are as there seems to be a built in judgement and assumptions about who you are what you should be like and how you should act after the experiences you had. I just give up trying to find one and the recomendations from friends are private and super expensive but they healed enough to live productive and forfilling lives. Really makes you think.

Great last question @Former-Member

We have about 10 mins left for this Topic Tuesday.

Re: Topic Tuesday // How do you cope with trauma? // 16 Aug, 7pm AEST

Same here too, @Bonny and @AussieGirl

Re: Topic Tuesday // How do you cope with trauma? // 16 Aug, 7pm AEST

I think what helps me TRUST others better is trusting myself & a lot of self talk. To realising we all have different values & learning to sepate my valued from theirs. Remind myself that they are entitled to their choices, which are about them. Its TRUSTING MYSELF enough to know I can handle whatever comes my way with dignity and strength, integrity & self respect. Breathe derp. People will hurt us, I'm trying to teach myself how to face it when necessary but also when to put boundaries in place. This is still a hard one for me.
