Gold Coast Care

Hi. I'm new here. I've been diagnosed with an ED (a long while ago) and am currently looked after by a GP but I find them very unsympathetic, low on knowledge on an ED and who appears to believe that it's unimportant to address or even discuss. I have a psychologist who is great but feel I would benefit more from a team approach between the GP & psychologist. Its really assisted before knowing I had their combined support. My current GP doesn't follow through on any of the written requests of the psychologist (who as a result is frustrated) and instead the GP exacerbates my feelings of hopelessness and being a lost cause and a waste of space. I feel like I am going downhill and I don't know what else to do. How can I find an GP who kind of specialises in ED on the coast ? I'm relatively new on the Gold Coast after moving up from NSW. Thanx

Re: Gold Coast Care

Hi @sparrow and welcome to the forum.

It sounds like you have already decided to change your GP, which is the first step. Have you asked your psychologist for any recommendations of GPs? It might be possible to find a GP who has a special focus on mental health at the least. I just did a web search and found that 'Beyond Blue' has a page to help you find mental health professionals. If you fill out the web search form you may be able to locate a GP near where you live. Hope this helps. Let us know how you go. 🙂

Welcome @sparrow

And thanks for a informative post from @Mazarita Smiley Happy

I thought I'd just chime in here to let you and others know that we cannot name GPs or mental health practitioners. This is because there are concerns around defamation. Even though providing a recommendation is not defaming, if we don't allow negative posts, and only allow postive posts, then we could potential provide an unbalanced view.
