Re: not coping

Dear @outlander

I'm still catching up on notifications from my time away.  Couple of posts of yours that I wanted to respond to from last week.

Regarding the likely costs involved in your treatment re gastroscopy etc if thats what is recommended once you see specialist.  Thats tough, a lot of $s involved.  I agree with @Sans911  that ideally you would admit yourself to the ED and then you would be treated through the system.  Its not as if you havent been experiencing a lot of pain over a long period of time, to warrant a visit to the ED.

But that aside ... other options?  I read that the bank knocked back your application for a loan.  Damn, so thats not an option.  Private health?  I have private health insurance for both high extras and basic hospital.  Never used the hospital cover, but I guess its nice to have.  And yet, the likelihood is that if I needed hospitalisation, I would likely go in as a public patient anyway.  And thus not use my private health.  Not sure if its worthwhile to have the hospital insurance to be honest with you.  I never had any private health insurance until I married, and I just tacked onto hubbies policy, and kept it since.

I am sorry to hear that your auntie is not in a position to lend you the money either.  But so many people are in a difficult position with the COVID nonsense.  It doesnt mean she would not have liked to help out, under normal circumstances.

I dont recall ever hearing from you, but I am guessing you should be on a Centrelink Carers Payment for your caring for your Pop?  As a carer payment recipient, it is my understanding that you can apply for an advance or loan of your payment from Centrelink.  I think an application can be done online.  But I do not know how much you are able to borrow or be advanced .. sorry.  I expect it would be recouped through your usual payments with a certain amount withheld each fortnight until its repaid.  Would this be an option for you?

Ahhhh @outlander  ... I am soo relieved to hear that the growth shown on your CT scan was in fact 19mm (or 1.9cm) and NOT the 19cm you initially read. As I stated at the time, 19cm is huge, you would be able to feel it or even see it. So that is good news indeed, and means that the initial urgency is somewhat lessened.  But it is still a cause of concern, there really should not be growths like that happening.  I hope it will be investigated appropriately, or at the very least ... monitored closely.

Ahhh .. so now that I am all caught up with your news from the past week ... I will leave you be.  I hope your day is going as well as possible so far.  Sounds like it started well at any rate ... fingers crossed its continued.

Sherry 💕

Re: not coping

I was interested to read your conversations back on 21st May @Lee82 @Sans911 @outlander.

Outlander ... I'm like you I think ... summer time I like to try to stay out of the sun too.

Lee82 ... I find summer very draining, no energy, just a limp rag. Plus its quite humid here on the midnorth coast of NSW, and that makes it even worse. I used to love water skilling, I used to do it a lot when I was a teenager and in my 20s. In fact all the sporty things I love doing, are mostly out in the sun. Shame that. And I have never ever been a sunbaker. I always look for a shade.

Sans911 ... I am so much with you with all that. I too love autumn .. .the cool nights after getting through summer are so nice. Cool crispy sparkly dewy mornings ... love it. And autumn colours are some of my favourites. Other than purples and mauves, which you dont get much of in nature really. Also like you Sans ... I am not a beach person, but love to walk on the sand or along the edge of the water once the sun goes down. Love that. Again like you ... I burn very easily. I am a redhead with freckles .. English/Irish heritage, so I have been horribly sunburnt as a kid coz I was always outside playing sports and running around on horses on the farm, etc.

Re: not coping

Thanks @Snowie 😊  you too.  How's the ECT going?  I think you have the weekend off from treatment.  Does the hospital continue to run courses and activities to keep you occupied on the weekends?  Perhaps you are getting a family visit as well.  Hope so.

Re: not coping

ECT is going ok @Former-Member I have it Mon, Wed & Fri, so weekends off.

They do have programs running to keep me occupied.

Had a visit from H and the kids today (and the dog!) so that was nice to go have lunch with them.

How are you going today?

Re: not coping

Thats really good to hear @Snowie ... I'm sure H and the kids were thrilled to see you, and perhaps equally so .. the dog.  Oh lucky you, being able to go out to have lunch with them as well.  COVID restrictions are slowly reducing and things are gradually opening up again.  Such a relief.  For so many people the simple act of going to a cafe to sit down for a quiet coffee alone or with others, is a major stress buster.  Little wonder people are suffering so much with all the lockdowns we've all had to endure.  I dont recall now, sorry .. are you in NSW?

How am I?  Hmmmm ... not great if I'm honest with you.  But definitely better than I have been for a week or more.  I think I even got 3 hours sleep last night ... thats the most in a long while.  Although, hubby this morning tells me I woke him up screaming at one point. Oops.  We are in separate rooms since he got so ill, and neither of us sleep well.
