Hi Utopia,
I read your post and have something that might be helpful! Here is a list of research into Women's mental health and hormones.

Hi Baileyboy,
I read your post and my heart went out to you. sounds like both the doctors you've spoken to haven't known an appropriate response. no excuse, but it's all too familiar. I used to be a sexual assault counsellor and what you've described is unfortunately an experience shared by many women. CASA has a 24 hour statewide telephone counselling service. they might be able to put you in contact with someone good in your area or provide a distance service. everything you say is also experienced by other women, including the body memories and pain and it is treatable. I encourage you to reach out for help. I have supported women in their 90s! and trauma treatment isn't about reliving the past. your Dr sounds abusive. I'd love to hear how you are going. Well I hope 🙂

Some of these recounted experiences are just appalling. What have your doctors been doing! I feel so sad for your correspondents. I thought we had sorted out menopause and HRT and settled the frightened mythology.
What I would lik to address is the question of PMS/PMD/PMDD that I simply term 'ovarian dysfunction'. I would like to download my writing on the 'Paradigm of Ovarian Dysfunction' if the moderator is supportive and that it would be appropriate to this forum. Please email me if you think it would be appropriate.
btw I am familiar with many acronyms but am uncertain what your correspondents are referring to with 'MI'- surely not mission impossible nor myocardial infarction.

Hi @Rosiedoc,
Firstly welcome to the forums! It is a really supportive place and I hope you get a lot out of it. It sounds like this discussion has really struck a chord with you and you find the myths and issues around menopause really frustrating.
Thanks for checking in if it would be okay to share your writing
Hopefully I can help you assess whether it would be appropriate for the forums. Our forums are a peer support space so a lot of the value of the forums comes from that sharing of personal experience and support. If you would like to share a piece of your writing that would be completely okay as long as it:
Here is a link to our community guidelines as well. I'd encourage you to read more about posting on the forums. They can be hard to get across. If you post something that is not in line with the guidelines we'll just be in touch via email to discuss editing it so it can go live!
Take care,
Tortoiseshell
