ohh it was a train! i got confused because you mentioned tram at the start here 😂
@Blackcloud i see, are you interested in pushing your comfort zone a bit and interacting with others? or not ready for that yet?
that's fair, i feel doing things like going out to volunteer take up so much energy right?

@rav3n @tyme @Jynx so I plan to give either MoneyCare or the No Interest Loan (idk if both are the same thing or different) a call - both of them are from the Salvation Army but idk what exactly to tell them tho
like as far as im
concerned with the rising of cost of living, yet I’m able to pay for all things I need HOWEVER i really hate seeing the money I’ve saved up tons with (before I moved) on my savings account already drastically decreasing. Because with the income I get most of that income requires me to pay fortnightly rent and the rest is like….buying meals and food via online delivery that I need to eat along the way and all…
so idk what exactly to tell these services about. I mean I would like to have a loan especially for rent purposes.. 🤷♀️ aaaaand…hopefully to pay for my uni course fees too this upcoming March
another intrusive thought I have [edited by moderator]

Certainly sounds reasonable. There's a lot happening at the moment, and it sounds so tough. I can see how living independently can affect your savings.
The only thing is, if you get a loan, it will affect your credit score if you want to take out a loan in the future (e.g. housing). Can you use HECs to pay for uni? @Blackcloud
By all means, give them a call to see what they say, but be ready, for limited answers. I've worked with these services and unless you are on the street with a few kids, you're placed on a waitlist.
Good luck with it all.
Also, just a note that your post was flagged due to the last comment made. Rather than post your actual thoughts, perhaps you can leave it at "I'm having intrusive thoughts" "I'm having unhelpful thoughts" etc.?
This will ensure members continue to find this space a safe place and recovery focused.
Please remember, thoughts are thoughts. I have similar thoughts chronically and have learnt to accept them. You are not judged by what your thoughts are.

@tyme I know nothing about the whole credit thing so I need to know more about how that generally works. And since I’m doing a TAFE course, I don’t think they have a HECs option available. I just have to pay around $500 something for the classes in that course I’m taking this semester. Thankfully at least TAFE courses are a lot cheaper it seems.
oh, I did not expect about the waitlist.. and yeah I guess with limited answers, that’s what I was kinda expecting as well considering how much the government doesn’t care about us. I’m trying to come up with a solution on what I should do with meal prepping instead considering that I still struggle to meal prep…even though I’m aware that it’s a lot cheaper to meal prep than it is to purchase meals and other food to eat along the way almost everyday, and ingredients are expensive too…. I plan on working on this with my support worker soon
fair enough about the thoughts then.

Totally! @Blackcloud .
I wonder if your support worker can go through budgeting and things like that?
But still, it's worth calling the services to get some answers. They may be able to direct you services such as Foodbank etc
Didn't you say you volunteer for Foodbank (correct me if I'm wrong. It may have been someone else)?

@tyme well she already went through budgeting with me and so I’m now able to set up my own budget thanks to her
And yes I volunteer at FoodBank, and I do get some food and stuff from their pantry for free 🙂 i guess I mean more like the ingredients you’d get when it comes to making actual health related foods from recipes though since FoodBank doesn’t seem to provide much ingredients stuff there..either that, or a lot of the times those are already expired *shrug*

@tyme @So just to clarify, if I were to apply for a no interest loan, I get put in the waitlist is that right?
have you ever dealt with The Salvation Army before?

Yes, I have worked with the Salvation Army in a few things. I'll be honest with you that someone in your situation (you have a roof over your head, you have food etc), you most likely won't even be eligible in the first place.
An alternative is to apply for an advance payment through Centrelink to pay for your studies. There's more hope with that. https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/centrelink-online-account-help-apply-for-advance-payment
I think the centrelink avenue will be more accessible.
There's definitely no harm in asking around though. @Blackcloud

@tyme omg I’m about to explode/spiral or whatever
im in contact with lifeline right now but it’s regarding a situation where my mum is pressuring me to get a boyfriend and this has been an ongoing issue ever since she wanted to introduce me to a guy that my aunty has found for me last year - though I rejected it and she accepted that but still she wants me to be in a relationship
so today my uncle sent me images of this other guy who clearly looks older than I thought and the moment I’ve found that he’s eight years older than me, I immediately rejected and got mad at my uncle for that. Plus, he even said that it’s difficult for him to find a guy that’s one or two years my age especially within a job that him and my aunty currently works at….
well, I did tell them after that I want to be with someone whose in Australia to which he also suggested that I should be with someone whose in Australia. At least my uncle isn’t even my mum or my dad after all so he doesn’t get to choose if I should be with someone, but since my mum is my mum, she wants to have control over what my life should be like in my 20s already….like seriously. And the fact that her mindset surrounding that kind of thing is a cultural thing too…. -.- yet she fricken wants her associates in our ethnic country to go find someone for me like what the actual f***???

Have you made it very clear that you are NOT interested at this moment? @Blackcloud
I wonder if they are doing it out of 'care' for you in that they want someone to be there to 'protect' you?
I hear how frustrating it can be at the moment.
