There always seems to be this big hype about surviving Christmas Day. We use up so much mental and physical energy just getting to the day. We talk to our supports about strategies we can use to make the day a little easier. Yes it's just another day, but for some the day can bring so many memories, both good and bad. Now the day is finally over and we can relax.
But can we? But now what?
It's ok still to have those feelings. It's ok if it continues to be a hard time. It's ok if we full into a slump. It's ok if we still need to treat ourselves with some compassion.
Just know that you are not alone. There are others that feel the same way you do.
Personally, I am glad the day has passed, but those mixed emotions are still there.

Thanks @Snowie that sums up my feelings quite well. It's a bit of an anticlimax, after gearing up to get through the day.

We don't look ahead, we just focus on getting through xmas day. Then it's like we have to start thinking about all the days afterwards that we need to get through.

Exactly @Snowie . It feels more than a roadblock - more like a landslide of worries I'd set aside. And niggles about things said/unsaid at yesterday's gathering.
I guess I should try to keep busy and push through but I'm tempted to sleep it off.

So I’m not the only one struggling today, after yesterday. I felt like I got through the day and it was over that I had to feel better today.
I have so much to get out but I’ve been pretending everything is ok

Made it through only to now go through processing of what happened/was said.
@Captain24 feel free to share whatever you need to get out, here. It’s hard pretending everything is ok and I understand.
There is no right or wrong way to feel today. As long as you do something kind for yourself and your mental health. Sleep? Why not. Cry? Hell yeah. Scream into a pillow? Absolutely. Personally I’m eating whatever I want, without guilt, and have spent time in the garden.

I think ive been so focussed on getting through Christmas day that i find now thats its over, all the other things ive been distracted from are just flooding back in... and hard!

@Shaz51 today is defiantly a recovery day here too. A day just to take it easy, a day to put me first.
Hi @Spungold I do think we need a day to recover from Xmas Day. Maybe we need a few days and there is nothing wrong with that. It's good that you have been able to do some self care for yourself. My breakfast today was chocolate, that I got of my kids xmas day!!
@MJG017 totally agree. Now that the day is passed all the other thoughts, emotions, feelings come flooding back. It's a time where we really need to be kind to ourselves.
