Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi everyone! I bring some after dinner mints to enjoy after the feast - mmm chocolate!

I have previously been to gyms, but I don't enjoy it - seems though they are promoted for anyone to use, they are designed more for fit people to stay fit. I much rather taking part in things like tennis or netball or even joining all the old ladies doing water aerobics - I love being in the water! To be honest, in the times I've gone to gyms, I've sweated and worked hard, but never lost any weight, but it's when I take part in team sports or in water aerobics that I actually succeed.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Jacques 16 years without regular electricity ... amazing ...

I know a lady who chose to live off grid with only a generator and raised 2 kids that way, and they ate vegemite sandwiches so they could afford to travel ... so many different people with different priorities.

@Mazarita Good luck with altering sleep pattern ... my son has managed to a bit ... and I am not much better than him ...how do you find your new psychiatrist generally?

Oh @chookmojo I only like the idea of mornings these days I dont get to see enough of them from either end.

Any news this week @Bill16 or @Former-Member?

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Mazarita I don't think I know what a normal sleep pattern is - though I better learn in the next couple of weeks as I have my uni prac coming up, which I'm going to have to wake up just after 5am - ugh! Some nights the only way I can get to sleep is to play music - I guess it's soothing.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

I used to like team sports, or even frisbee in the park, but not up to them these days

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Good Evening @Ace85, yes i find that too, i can't do group sports, but i like walking, whenever i excercise i can't seem to loose weight, i am trying hard though.  it does feel good though to be working up a sweat....

@Appleblossom, it was not by choice we had no regular electricity, it was just we could not afford to get it fixed up, we definately would not have gone without it if we had a choice.  mum and i seem to be getting back on our feet again, it feels so nice to have things working again, the electrician was horrified to know we had no light, no stove and no hot water fo such a long time.  to mum and i it was normal because we got used to it. i feel so lucky to have such things like hot water and electricity when their are so many people living rough.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@chookmojo Nothing beats finishing work early on a Friday! Also I just wanted to say I am sorry to hear about your beloved chickens passing away. I grew up with 3 free range chickens in my backyard so I completely appreciate their gorgeous personalities. Whenever I visit my parents I love to sit in the backyard with a cup of coffee and watch them fossick in the ground, so relaxing. These days my only pet is my sweet little cat, whom I adopted as a stray. He is 5 years old now and much better behaved than when I first found him... He literally used to climb up my curtains! Much like your cat he is sleeping soundly next to me now. He will behave himself until about 6am when he knocks my various items off my bedside table to wake me up... thats how he let's me know he is ready to start the day.

@Mazarita yes it can take some time to adjust our body-clocks to a new routine. I am giving sleep a lot more priority than I used to, and I think it has definitely helped my concentration, memory, endurance and overall mood during the day. When I go past my "bed time" now, I think to myself "oh gosh I am late for sleep", as though I have missed some sort of important appointment! hehe! Wow I am really showing my age...!! 😉 I love that idea to change into your PJs and have a milo to symbolise bedtime. Those little rituals can really help I think.

Welcome @Ace85 and thanks for the after dinner mints. Nom Nom Nom...

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Jacques Thanks for the idea. I do try meditation techniques but I think my psych medication is interfering with my ability to concentrate, I lose focus so quickly. I will keep trying with things like this.

@chookmojo Nice to know it's possible to be an ex-owl. I agree the time between midnight and dawn is special.

@Appleblossom It's early days with the new psychiatrist but we both seem sincere in our approach to each other so I'm happy with that. I don't expect too much, just appreciating the assistance I am getting mostly. I'm not sure about a new medication I have started, we may try something different when I see him next.

@Ace85 Hi. Yum, dinner mints. Cool about the music. Best of luck with the early start at uni. 🙂

@Former-Member Cheers.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Former-Member

Thanks. It was very sad and threw me for a while, but I am doing heaps better now and seriously considering getting some more by Xmas. They bring me too much joy to just give up on it, even though there is a lot of work, and you know they don't last forever.

Ah cats, they are such adorable things that they get away with stuff we wouldn't take from anyone else Smiley Very Happy
