Re: Good Morning!

Thats good @Historylover so glad you have got her as a friend. She sounds like a real gem!  Hold onto her.

I had to get all my light globes done and they are all LED now. Its unusual light they put out I must admit but it saves money on your bills.  Something like 70% savings on lighting bills. I can't remember the exact savings amount but I was quite stunned when the installer told me.

You could always take a trip to Bunnings.  My installation process did not cover "dimmer bulbs" so had to buy them myself.

Never really compared bills but I assume I've saved quite a lot.  I think there are Australian based online calculators that compare how much you would save using your current lights and switching to LED.

Re: Good Morning!

Thats a good price on your electricity bill @Historylover I have just gone around the house and turned switches off at the wall. I got to get the bills down. Possibly higher due to air filtration and aircon but mine was about $120 last month. I have a larger premises too.  It should be interesting to see how much my December bill will be with excess solar power generated being fed back into the grid

Re: Good Morning!

It's all a matter of needs over wants, @SmilingGecko. I only acknowledge my needs and address them with due consideration. Yes, the larger premises brings larger costs. I'm sure you must be eager to get your next bill to learn how your solar has affected costs. I only have a fan and a heater. No luxuries here 😕but it doesn't worry me😊

Re: Good Morning!

I did not read my latest electricity bill properly as the layout has changed due to new government requirements. I have overpaid my bill by $200 but this was not reflected in the amount due.  It says zero due not the fact I'm in credit. I'm on the phone to Red Energy and yes have overpaid it! It will be a nice bonus to ring in the New Year @Historylover @TAB will get it deposited in my account and can use my solar savings to pay off my Plenti loan for solar power. It will get paid off quickly. Plus with excess electricity being paid back into the grid.

Re: Good Morning!

well  try and keep cash, dunno @SmilingGecko  always good to be ahead.

Just did corrections on English thing and re-submitted it.

have something to eat then go back to PO to get docs certified.

Re: Good Morning!

What's this English thing you're doing, @TAB?

Re: Good Morning!

ohh I got shafted @Historylover  I applied to enrol in CERT IV TAE (training and assessing)

this has 2 separate (federal and state) govt subsidies.

To be eligible for the subsidies, I had to do a language literacy and numeracy test.

last time did it 2 years ago, scraped thru on maths, this time aced it and bombed on simple not to local council making a complaint (written exercise)

So, am forced to do a bridging course in English despite being a native speaker , uni humanities honours grad, 55 page thesis, etc

pass mark is 100% did 1/4 of it yest (took 6 hours solid) got 88% so failed . sent corrections in.

So, course if enrolled today  costs like $5300. I got 2023 price of $5000 by paying before last week., minus subsidies , only have to pay $750 , but have to tick their boxes, which turns out to be spending time sucking eggs on course on how to write simple business emails. says 10-15hrs allocated to it as on part of a cert II but will take double that by looks of things , its way too convoluted , should be a cert IIin its own right.

Re: Good Morning!

These new bills are deceptive and hard to read @TAB! Yes holding onto the money to pay off the Plenti loan. Its incredible what going solar can do. Never thought something so tangible and good would come of it.

I hope your re-submission with your English thing for TAFE is accepted.

Yeah good about getting documents done. Sometimes they make a song and dance about authentification of documents. I went to a chemist to have documents done a while ago and the person was being run off his feet.

Re: Good Morning!

well its frustrating re course as poorly written. I had to have 3 attempts at a pretty much meaningless question, which info supplied does not support either way, prob more inclined to say the wrong answer was the right one the way it was written @SmilingGecko  jus jargon and BS, usual non -intellectual business of playing ''make up the rules''  game oh you got nonsense term wrong ..fail .. ffs these people ...

Re: Good Morning!

Thats bad news @TAB so now you have to do an English bridging course in addition? Lots of hoops to jump through just to gain entry to a course. Very disappointing, plus added costs.  They make it very hard these days. When I was getting into uni it just was an Anderson score that was required. If you didn't get high enough scores you were sent to business courses at TAFE and after that if you were good enough you could get a transfer to a uni
