I had an old boyfriend previously who got a compensation payout for his bad back. The girlfriend he was with at the time looked at it as if it was the goose that laid the golden egg so got hooked up with him.
When he separated from from her she took a lot of the $$$ so he was left to buy a house in the country with no insulation and with a pentagram spray painted on the floor. I dunno what kind of relationship it was or what went on but my ex was vulnerable
It may be worth checking out the roof cavity before summer hits. I have an old ladder. Had no idea they cost so much. Its hard when you have to look after your own household. When you are tied down to a property there are expenditures @TAB

You might find a used ladder on facebook marketplace or buy swap sell. It could be asbestos in roof like @Former-Member suggested so you need to consider that.
