@TAB @MDT Recently at work I get the impression people have picked up I’m a bit odd and I think they think that I have suffered some sort of mental health issue… their assumptions… have you guys been in a similar situation before? And did you come out and tell them the truth or did you just keep working… I’m thinking of telling them part of my story and not the whole truth any suggestions ???

Woah @Former-Member be careful. I wouldn't tell. I have heard they can make your life difficult in the workplace which makes you want to leave. Theres not much acceptance of mental illness today but its still improving, slowly. If you disclose your worklife environment could take a turn for the worse. Nobody has a right to your health info and you owe nobody an explanation about anything. I don't want to make a suggestion in case it backfires but did think you could mention youre a bit of a loner and didn't socialise much and try create a work persona around that. Its harmless in itself but may work, what do you think? I sense you must be feeling scared and worried which is understandable

Disclosing different aspects of my stroy is tricky, as mental illness is part of so much of it. So far it has not been good to disclose, even if people are polite and ask you only to disclose what you are comfortable with ... I usually had no idea what I was confortable about anyway, so I would try this aspect or that aspect. Am hoping it is not going to cause me a problem at uni where they say Lived Experience is alright. Trying to be careful of boundaries and what is discolsed where ... put me in a panic with techniology and stuff "going live", so I held back and only submitted 2/3 of assignment. TIme will tell I guess how it is taken....

It is tricky @Appleblossom and there are no right or wrong ways to share our stories but it is important to protect ourselves with what we share.
If you share, maybe test the water first by telling just one person and make sure you can be in a safe environment afterwards where you can maybe debrief.
you have come a long way in your recovery so be wise as you always are.
❤️💚
