Yep @Shaz51 - I love this time of year for football codes
We'd happily take some of your rain please! Another beautiful day here, so not complaining...but we need a bit more water falling from the sky, too
Do you follow any sports/teams?

@Shaz51 great to see. And even though I am a South Australian, I actually follow the NRL and not the AFL. Lol

Tomorrow after Malaga Leg, they drift through the streets of Perth CBD. Podium, Closing ceremony and dinner.

Good evening @Glisten @Mustang67 @StuF @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @TAB @Emelia8 @tyme @Lauz @ENKELI @Bill16 and all sports lovers here tonight.
@Glisten That’s great news regarding your daughter and son in law for the TARMAC race in WA. What exactly is it if I may ask? It sounds like a car thing?
@Mustang67 Welcome to the thread! I see you like NRL. What team do you follow? I’m a Melbourne Storm girl although before them, I used to like the Roosters. I’ve always been an VFL/AFL girl as I’m based in Melbourne- my original team was the Fitzroy Lions before they merged to become the Brisbane Lions.
Here’s the results from the AFL and NRL from today, with me being a very happy camper due to both the Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Lions winning!
This afternoon, I watched the Melbourne Storm match on TV and was very happy with how the team played. It was so good to have Ryan Papenhauzen back in the team after having an injury a few weeks back. The game was in Melbourne at AAMI Park and despite the weather being fickle before the game started (a mix of sun, rain, hail,), the match was played in good cold weather, just like Melbourne does! Overall, a good result with Melbourne advancing to week 3 of the finals along with Penrith from last night. In other news, the Cowboys defeated Newcastle in North Queensland tonight in an elimination final so the Cowboys get to play another match next week. The other elimination final to round out week 1 of the NRL finals is Manly vs the Canterbury Bulldogs tomorrow (Sunday) and I’m cheering on the bulldogs for the win.
Tonight was a very stressful AFL match for me as I watched the Brisbane Lions play the GWS Giants at their home ground (Giants). All I can say is I can’t believe we won the game as we were 44 points down at 1 point and came back to win by 5 points at the final siren. I honestly thought the game was over for the lions as I didn’t expect us to be able to come back from being so far down. The 3rd quarter was great but that last quarter was epic as the lions seemed to find that extra something and score the right goals at the right time as well as getting hold of the ball and running the clock down. The last 5 minutes was really scary, especially the last 2 minutes where there was only 5 points in it favouring Brisbane and I thought the Giants could still score and win the game. The coach of Brisbane was very emotional after siren as he couldn’t believe that the team had won and said it was the best game of his career with the team. This win now means that Brisbane go on to play Geelong on Saturday afternoon- 5:15pm - at the MCG with the winner going through to the Grand Final on the 28/9. The other match to decide the other gran finalists is Port Adelaide vs Sydney Swans on Friday night at the SCG. I’m cheering on Sydney for the win! If Brisbane do get through to the Grand Final, I’ll be watching it on board the Carnival Splendour cruise ship as I’m going on a holiday starting on the 27/9 from Sydney to the Great Barrier Reef. I’ll be flying home on the 6/10 when the cruise lands back in Sydney so I’ll be able to watch the NRL grand final at 7pm.
Keep on enjoying your favourite sports!
