Poem - A Dude With MS

A Dude With MS

Would you ask a person suffering with Multiple Sclerosis to run a marathon? It would help raise awareness and charity support. Sure... why not? Sounds neat. And there would be support team and medical staff, ensuring they're okay every step of the way.

Would you force a person suffering with Multiple Sclerosis to run a marathon every day of the week? No way... why? It would stuff them up totally. They'd be buggered.

Would you ask a person suffering with Mental Illness to work for a full day? Unaware of their condition, of course you would expect it. No support team, no medical staff, no ensuring they're okay every step of the way.

Would you force a person suffering with Mental Illness to work every day of the week? No way... why? It would stuff them up totally. They'd be buggered...

But wait... unaware of your condition, it's just expected that you work. You don't work, you don't have money. You don't have money, you can't eat or keep a roof over your head. So everybody's gotta work...

Inevitably, you fall in a heap...

You swallow your pride and seek help from social services...

"Sorry, your mental health isn't bad enough to qualify you for disability support. You haven't even ended up in hospital yet. Find work."

Great help from social services...

This is what I paid my taxes for... all them years, busting a gut and losing my nut...

Would you do all that to a dude with Multiple Sclerosis?

Poem - Wishing Wells

Wishing Wells

The wellspring got sprung well and good,
As well-wishers wished well to all those well wished;
What well will run dry or continue to flow,
And where will well's water continue to go?

Poem - Blankieland

Blankieland

With my head under the doonah I declare
The new land of Blankieland.

Laying here snug and warm and safe
I survey all the way to my sovereign borders;
There is no strife in Blankieland.

Outside world:
Without war, there is no peace,
Without peace, there is no cease
To war.

Blankieland:
Laying here snug and warm and safe
I survey all the way to my sovereign borders;
There is no strife in Blankieland.

Poem - Nanny State

Nanny State

And oh how all the children railed,
Hemmed in and by the Nanny State failed;
Common sense departed, leaving us all for fools,
Clinging onto ever more stupid senseless rules.

Poem - The Eye of the Beholder

The Eye of the Beholder

That mad gleam in the eye,
The seek to live, instead of to die;
Despite the depth and breadth of pain,
Some mad twist keeps me slightly sane;
I breathe deep and exhale a sigh,
Blessed-cursed with all things deep and high;
Through myself, I redact my brain,
Keeping me cruising through slightly insane.

Poem - Mad Ness, Minus the Elliot

Mad Ness, Minus the Elliot

I was born under a crazy moon
Without Uri Geller here's a bent spoon;
I'm the eternal eternally weird loon,
See you all at the Mad Monthly Meeting soon...

Poem - Monster

Monster

Should the soil be blamed for the seeds that were grown,
Not ever having chance to choose what was sown?
Perhaps it is human to hate harsh truth shown,
To be human or to be monster is our own choice to own.

Poem - Fight for your Write to Party

Fight for your Write to Party

Writing is not a choice.
I am driven to write,
Giving my suffering a voice,
Lending to the dark a light.

Poem - Wonderwhy

Wonderwhy

Why is there wonder?
I wonder why...

Prismatic me
Takes invisible light
Which science calls white
And makes all the colours dance
Unicorns farting rainbows prance

I wonder why...
Why is there wonder?

Poem - Aw Shit, I Burnt the Toast

Aw Shit, I Burnt the Toast

Aromatic hydrocarbons wafted to my olfactory nerves, replacing amorphous sleep,
Then piercing beeping from the smoke alarm caused my waking leap;
I toasted the blackening, with kn.ife-scraping sounds of morning shame,
Honest - a toaster with a temperamental temperature regulator was to blame,
