Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

Hi @soul. What a wonderful idea for a thread. That is what I love about you - your ability to create and inspire.

The story behind my avatar was that I was drawn to it born by the same uplifting inspirement that lead to my new username.

To me it means an enigma wrapped in a paradox of inexplicable wonder; a mystery shrouded in a conundrum. Prompting me to seek and push through the overwhelming odds whose force field radiates "Stop - no way out". Challenging my mind and spirit for battle creating a stimulating and everlasting Enigma of I am. Moving forward towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

How about this one Claire Heart @outlander 🙂

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

@Former-Member Good on you Nell23. If you don't mind me saying I have always thought it was a bit on the bleak side ... I didn't think it was like you at all to be honest.

I chose my happy pea because I thought it was cute and positive. So many sad and awful things in this world I wanted something that would not only make myself feel a bit better but other people looking at it. I love my lil sweet pea !Smiley Very Happy

Yes @soul
I have 3 small aviaries, & 3 cages inside.
I have about 50 finches - zebras, Bengalese, javas, orange breasts, 11 canaries, 2 bourke parrots, 3 budgies, 2 doves, 2 cockatiels, 1 peaceface.
I love them all especially the canaries.
I'vehad birds for most of 30 years.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

Great topic @soul and it is wonderful how it allows us all to share more about ourselves.

Yes, an avatar can hold many meanings and reflect how we are feeling or where we want to go.

Despite the difficulties we face, everybody's avatars are positive.  Even your B&W photo that you might change @Nell is so serene and includes 2 essentials for me; water and life. @Phoenix your little green shoot is very subtle. I did not notice it either on the rusty old lock.

My name has not changed since I began on the forum, but my pic has changed twice.  At first choosing an avatar, I had so many pent up feelings of fear, frustration and inadequacy, so I just went with a standard one without thought. Then I chose one representing the importance of Australia, history, nature and the beach.  It was a pic of a historical site on a beach.  I still had a heap of anger around the issue appearances in general and my gender.  I wanted to be gender neutral.

I like my latest pic of a woman absorbed in reading a book as that is very much like me.  She has other things to do than pose for a picture.  The bird shows she is connected to living things and freedom of thought.  It took a lot for me to be finally ready to choose a female avatar.

Over time it has been good for me seeing her. I am not quite as thin or elegant and I definitely do not have red hair, but she sits well with me still.

I think pics can change as we wish and like that the function is built into the site.  I also believe it is best that it is a free choice and there is no coercion.  I like your different pics @outlander This one is evocative and helped me "get" you a bit better.  When the time is right something else may appeal to you.

Sometimes I can retreat if things are too cheery as they may not represent reality or the things people are dealing with.

Absolutely brilliant thread topic. @soul Thank you.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

The last two times I was walking at night, an owl flew past in front of me. Now if I see it again, I will think of you @Owlunar. I like the idea that this bird is watching (probably looking for a juicy mouse) but they are an attentive animal.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

I wondered whether you had painted those water lilies @Faith-and-Hope because I know you are an accomplished artist.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

@Queenie - I remember your avatar used to be QE2. Had to laugh at how you came up with this one. Makes sense.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

Moving forward - best way to go @Former-Member. We can’t change the past. If it wasn’t good, all we can do is be positive in our approach from here on.
