Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

Hi @Former-Member.i haven't seen you around the forums before. I love reading too. I used to get into a lot of trouble at school because I would prefer to sit down the back and read.

My current avatar reflects the changes I am going through in my mental health journey. It's a time of reflection for me, a time of studying what makes me who I am, and how gave I been shaped into my identity, personality and character. I'm doing a lot of this reflection work with my pyschologist.

And nature is where I reflect the best. Not in the clinical environment of a clinicians office or the ebb and flow of a pysch ward.

So sitting on the end of a pier is a good place to be. It's also a place of beauty and wonder.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

I completely agree with you @soul 🐢

And it's great to meet a fellow Daria fan too 😊

The internet is quite incredible in the way it connects us to an endless source of information and viewpoints (and people!).

There's something completely unique to reading a book though - everything from the stage where you're selecitng the book right through to when you've you've turned the page of the last chapter. I especially love the tactile elements of it too - particualrly holding and touching really old books that carry a history.

It's almost a mindful practice. When you do get a bit of time out to read, what kinds of books do you tend to gravitate towards?

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

My avatar is a Lotus (Water Lilly) .....

While it has all sorts of value and spiritual associations, I have chosen it for its connections to the people and places on both sides of my family ...... it is a symbol of my heritage and ancestry to me.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

Hey @Sans911,

Great to meet you. You might not have seen me around a whole lot as I'm pretty new to the forums. I'm really enjoying getting to know everyone here. It's such a lovely supportive community 🌻

I really liked how you described your avatar. Sounds like a really reflective time for you right now and your avatar nicely captures that process. I think there's a quality to looking out at the ocean that can prompt that feeling of awe and yet at the same time, calm and contemplation.

It's interesting how pictures can say so much.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

@Former-Member-would you mind sharing what your role as a community manager means?

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

Yeah for sure @Sans911.

@NikNik actually posted info about the role of Community Manager today over here:

If it's still not feeling so clear, please do ask us whatever questions you might have on that thread 🙂

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

A very warm welcome to you @Former-Member and all the best in your role as Community Manager.

I enjoy reading biographies. I went to see the movie "Breath" last night having read the book by Aussie author Tim Winton previously. Whilst I did enjoy the film, I felt the book had more depth and I like the way I could envisage my own perception of the characters and events. The film ended too abruptly whereas the book explains things more cohesively.

Re: Tell Us About Your Avatar

Thanks so much @soul ☺️

Time Winton is a wonderful writer. I often have a similar experience when I've seen a movie based on a book I've read. The human imagination is quite incredible really and each persons internal perception of the same story is so unique.
