Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Today I did find some joy in a garden @Former-Member. Whilst out walking I passed someone's garden and snapped off a twig of lavender. I crushed it between my fingers and inhaled the scent - so relaxing. I brought it home and put it on the bookcase. My daughter has cleaned up and thrown it away though šŸ˜©Never mind, it isn't often that she does clean up šŸ˜ƒ

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Hi @Former-Member

I didn't come in yesterday - bad, cold weather here - I spent the day watching recorded TV and clearing the hard-drive - I needed to have the hot back behind me most of the day - I was okay - just battling old age I think

Alas - we either have old age or die before we get there and my Dad and I had a long running joke about which alternative was the worst and how did we know, I was an athlete and and sometimes wonder what happened to me - but then the same mind is running the same body and I get by rather well I think. I can walk a long way

There's only two things we can't control and that's our age and our height - other things are hard to control yes - I understand that - but uh oh - there's three things - taxes - we pay tax on nearly everything we buy

It's not as scary as we think before we get there Lapses - there are some good things about getting older - the getting of wisdom is less painful as are our worries - I worry less - but I do remember being younger

Honestly - life was harder then

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Hiya @Owlunar, nice to see you, thanks for your reply. Not being forced into modern slavery (unwanted unpleasant work demands) probably does soften the blow of getting older. We learn to say no, and learn that worry doesn't help much. Anxiety niggling away at me already this morning, not sure why. Must do my breathing mindfulness relaxation meditation, and a walk. Oh, have to stay home for the tree guy comingvback.

I think, despite all outward appearances, I think this tree lopper was sent by God. And the SES ladt week (they didnt have to help mecwith thectree). The timing is perfect really (before summer growth. I haven't been able to solicit help, even paid help for so long, and this guy just comes looking for work, and he's no amateur. Says he loves climbing. Despite the colour of his skin. he's front teeth missing, cap on in reverse with fuzzy long hair sticking out the back, I knew it was somehow right. He said he could see it was needed (finally, someone noticed). Then again, I am paying. Good rates. Best timing!

My son is getting better'ish. Cough starting to ease thank goodness. He struggles to just relax poor dear.

You have a good week - my wise owl friend.

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Oh no! The tree lopper just asked to use the Lou šŸ˜Ø, desperate, within 1/2hr of arriving. Do you think he's 'casing' out the joint? (I'm not paranoid). Told him to "be quick"

Then, as he left, he said "you need help here, I can help you do dis" I shrugged my shoulders and said - I don't have money but only one day's work s month, which he's happy with (of cause)

Trouble is, I felt the tears well up, ushered him out and cried cried crying. Why? I don't understand myself. Think its because someone noticed. And offered to help, and could do it. Also, maybe stress of feeling obliged to let him in the house. I don't know him. Men don't score high in trust scale for me, none of them! Much less tradies and...

Op, he's gone quiet, betta go check

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

You okay @Former-Member ?

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Oh golly @Former-Member

I am not sure about letting a guy (who is being helpful and you didn't ask for him in anyway) into your house

Uh oh - please don't do this again - I know he is being kind but you don't know

I grew up on a police station and my father was a policeman for a long time and maybe I have learned to watch my back - now I am watching yours

It won't do any harm to check up on him with the police - he might just be looking for work but he sounds a little too friendly to me

Are you okay?
