Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Apologies for no 'likes' - not for lack if trying though - there seems to be a technical glitch of some sort stopping me. Should resolve itself soon I suspect.
@Former-Member .

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Hi @Former-Member - glad to see that the back pain has subsided. I hurt my back quite a few years ago and had six weeks off work. Went through all the medical tests and ended up seeing a physio, chiropracter, an acupuncturist. I did hydrotherapy as well as other exercises. It eventually healed but was so debillitating at the time. I couldn't get the washing out of the machine, vacuum the floor or drive.

I did, however, do a lot of reading and taught the budgie several phrases. I was on strong painkillers for a couple of years afterwards until I decided that I really should wean myself off them. Things are okay now but I do watch how I lift things.

I think the dog is suffering from SAD. Not at all keen to get up in the morning for her walk. I have only just now taken her jacket off.

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Thanks @soul, nice to see you. Glad your back resolved eventually. Nice to have that empathy with others here on the forums, especially when it impacts our mental health (which pain does and all the medications - not easy). Do you have private health cover for all those services? Must have cost a packet? I've booked in recently with a physio careplan (which I only realised recently I was entitled to x6 visits, like psychologist). Not sure what the gap is.

Yesterday's flare-up after work Tuesday was the worst i can remember... Don't remember doing anything to injury, just maybe on my feet too long. Bones can't hold me up anymore it seems. Gotta stop eating, hunger strike my extra 40kg off, lol

Seems everyone gets backpain at one time or another. I hate the thought of being dependent on people, imobile, and coming across like a baby (moaning & tears or grumpy). Not the strong happy person I like pretending to be around others.

It surprised me yesterday how the pain intensity dropped suddenly (thank God), that's a mystery, or maybe the tablet (that made me so sick) who knows.

Just had another little crisis here, a funny one - trying to have my first cuppa for the day -_NO CLEAN CUPS!! noooo! Had to use my plastic travel mug, life can be so unfair haha. Must ptioritisecthe dishes today, somehow 🌷🌿

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Oh @soul, do give your doggy a big cuddle from me and my pooch - fellow SAD sufferers 🐕💓 gotta love our furballs 💕

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

@Former-Member - fortunately (if that's the right term) my back injury happened at work so all expenses were met by Worker Cover. I had to undergo a return to work program and was eventually allowed to resume my normal duties.

My pooch has found a place in the sun to lay down.

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Sorry to jump in on this thread - but have any of you used lightboxes? I'm thinking of buying one to use at my desk in winter.
If so where did you get it?

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Hi @Former-Member, jump in any time. But can't help on the 'lightbox' front, never heard of them. Have to google that one, or let us know - what is it??

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

This was my tx exchange with my mum this morning:
0541 "Happy Birthday mum, you made it! If I was there I'd bring flowers and your fav big fresh jam & cream sponge cake. Have a good day today - enjoy the good things Smiley Happy [flower pic attached]
1006 "thank you, very thoug htfull off you but iam c rook with the flu very infectious, don't want visitors"
1116 "oh, sorry to hear you're sick, and on your birthday Smiley Sad Please look after you - get lots of rest, and fluids for your immune system. I hear you - its probably not a good time for you to have visitors (should have mailed your card). Everyone seems to be struggling at the moment, I had a shocker of a day myself just yesterday, nearly called an ambulance, stayed in bed all day, still here. Its nobody's fault but lets just blame winter lol Stay warm mum. Miss you and everyone Smiley Happy
1218 "its not easy to pick up and carry on when your not a full quid but its a nice day god hasnt give n up on us so we re not allowed to give up on our selves amen got one birthday card lovly from our ### [my S3] thanks it picked me up hope he is ok take care lv mum"

I just had my first cuppa tea for the day and x1 dry toast. Tummy still squirmy but so far so good keeping it down. Back pain is niggling but walking so much better today, phew! ptl. Haven't been game to take my meds yet, probably should soon. To be honest - just wanna give up as i'm really so very tired of fighting it all. BUT, like I tell everyone else...

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

@Former-MemberThat exchange with your Mum sounds really hard for you.

You were probably needing or wanting some recognition for the pain that you've had over the last few days - & there did not seem to be any response from your Mum about that.

Sadly I can relate well to what you described - my closest relatives did not acknowledge my serious health emergency. Not until I went into A&E in a ambulance, & had 2 emergency bowel surgeries within 3 days.

I always hoped for better understanding & connection with my parents, & it never seemed to come (Dad's gone now).

Maybe you have been hoping for something like that too.

Re: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

Sure thing @Adge, you get it. Good how you picked that up, that mother dearest didn't. Well, didn't validate me. Its only ever been about her really, especially now with this terminal cancer, and your right, it won't change now. Just gotta remember to validate ourselves first. Thank you for that. You're getting pretty good here on the forums 🙂 🌷🌿🐦
