Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

Hi @BlueBay

I can fully understand you about how the anger see ems to increase as each minute passes as I have often felt that way lots of times! Thanks for sharing this experience!

What I did learn at PARCS this time is to take myself away from the triggering situation and do something different to try and calm myself down. At one point, that involved leaving my bedroom and going into the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea and to listen to some music on my iPhone with my earphones plugged in to try and deal with what was happening to me which did work. Also, sometimes writing it down helped as I was able to express how I was feeling knowing that I was getting my thoughts and feelings out of my system which also helped calm me down. Believe me, you don't even want to know how many times I wrote down things in my notebook on the psych ward and then photographed them and sent them via email to my psychologist just so he could read them and to know I was sharing my distress with another person. It didn't really matter that he didn't necessarily respond- it was more that it was out of my head and I felt better overall for doing this. It was a good strategy and one they I plan to continue as a form of therapeutic journaling which I also learnt at PARCS this period.

Take care!

That's a good idea about writing in your journal and taking a photo to show your psych. I think I may try this.

That's a great idea @BlueBay and @Judi9877 !

And you are so crafty making things @BlueBay . You did mention you even sold some of your creations! Impressive!

Hi @Judi9877 @BPDSurvivor @HenryX

I've had similar situations where I have left messages to my GP and he hasn't got back to me.  I wait and wait and wait.  The next day and I am still waiting.  But my anger is progressively getting worse.  By this stage I hate him, will never go back.  why couldn't he call me back.  and then after a while (hours/day) i think ok - maybe he didn't even get my message; or perhaps he was really busy and didn't have time.

But gee that anger increases within minutes.

@BlueBay , i can definitely relate. I'm fuming at the other person and vow to myself never to speak to them again!

Yet you have shown real strength in pausing and thinking about other possible reasons for your pdoc not to respond - I acknowledge and want to celebrate that with you. It's definitely one step in the right direction! Well done!

Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

Hi @BPDSurvivor @BlueBay @HenryX @Faith-and-Hope @Oaktree @Jacques and everyone here. I'm just spending some downtime knitting my Mental Health Recovery Blanket and reminding myself how relaxing it is to be creative and working on something that is both productive and meaningful to me and my mental health journey.

I just thought I'd share a song that I came across whilst watching the AFL Grand Final halftime entertainment show from Birds of Tokyo called 'Unbreakable' which I hadn't heard before but which now resonates with me strongly as part of my recent admission to the inpatient unit and to PARCS. The song is now a favourite as it reminds me that I am strong and as long as I don't let people win as well as my BPD issues and triggers, I am unbreakable and that each day is a new day to try and cope with the the thing called life and her wonderful experiences that come my way. I know that each day, I am having to fight my triggers but I'm also learning more about myself and how to deal with whatever happens to me. The truth is, I've got to accept that choices have consequences and I'm responsible for my choices. I have control over my life and I am slowly learning more about myself and my mental health each day which I'm very much enjoying!

Take care and have a great night!

Hi @BPDSurvivor @HenryX @BlueBay @Faith-and-Hope @Oaktree and all forumite friends here. See below of my Mental Health Recovery Blanket that I'm in the process of working on that I've been telling you all about. There's still a fair way to go to make it bed size - 1.8m x 1.8m - but I'm getting there. I hope you like it!054DFB98-9656-487D-8B3B-92DC866758D9.jpeg

Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

I love it @Judi9877 , way to go my friend :ok_hand:❤

Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

Love the blanket @Judi9877 !

From your posts, it seems like you got a lot out of your PARCs stay. Do you think so?

PARCs was a life saver for me. I could be myself, and I learnt to speak openly about my BPD. I believe these are the types of environments pwBPD do better in. What are your thoughts @Judi9877 ?
