Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

Hi @Oaktree ,

Thanks for sharing! With lockdown extended here in Victoria, I've been run off my feet to get work done!

Today has been my most hectic day as yet - to the point where I thought I would crash. In the end, as part of self-care, I cancelled my evening work. It just wasn't worth a recovery setback.

Im so glad you are going out for brunch. I'm hanging out to be able to do that too! I'm my mind, I'm also understanding that we may not be able to do it for a while yet...

With your case management, etc, do you have any other supports you have been linked to? If you don't mind me asking, which state/territory do you reside?

Thanks for being here!

Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

Hi @BPDSurvivor

Yes my case manager did refer me to a couple of other services but I only continued on with one of those. A social service. I have a worker that takes me out a couple of times a week along with other clients which has been great to stop me from isolating at home. It is helpful but it's not the same thing as having real friends. I live in the West.

Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

Hello @BPDSurvivor  i hope you manage to be kind to yourself, sounds like you are working very hard and also giving lots of time and compassion to everyone on here.

@Oaktree  I think you are a very lucky lady having your case manager refer you to other supports.  Mine never did.  Also how lovely, kind and caring is this person from your church....What a women!

Yes this lady from Church is very kind, caring and generous. I am glad that she reached out. I think it could be just what the doctor ordered

Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

@Oaktree ,

Having supports is a good start. It's like a walking stick to help you tackle the world. Later, you won't need this walking stick/s!

When I was case-managed, I was able to get into PARCs (prevention and recovery centres), I had a peer worker, I had a psychologist, psychiatrist, psycho-social worker etc. Since being discharged from case management late last year, I've now got remaining the same psychosocial worker and psychologist. It's been a HUGE help.

In terms of living in the 'West', you mean WA? I'm just thinking of whether there are supports to share with you in your area.

So glad you could join us here though!

If you ever feel able, I invite I you to share your story or part of your story (no obligation of course). We all have our own story. There's no right or wrong. I find it so amazing how people are so different yet fundamentally have the same needs, feelings, desires.

Any thoughts?

Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

@BPDSurvivor

Yes Western Australia. I initially didn't want a case manager and actively fought it but ended up really liking my usual one. I got linked in with the clinic psychologist and I found that really helpful but due to a major manic episode late last year we are on a break. I am not sure I want to go back to the psychologist but I want to talk to them first before I make my final decision about that. I had been seeing my case manager every two weeks for years which is why it's so weird for me that I haven't seen my new one for six weeks and they aren't calling me to book an appointment.

@Oaktree ,

 Sorry, I don't know much about services in WA.

For us in VIC, Covid has really stumped a lot of people. It's really hard to get appointments anywhere.

Do you look for BPD-specific services?

Re: Raising Awareness of BPD - Flipping the Script

Hello @Anya11 ,

Welcome here! If you have any BPD specific questions, experiences, stories, you're more than welcome to share it here.

I've had BPD for as long as I remember. I'm in recovery and am still working on many aspects of my BPD life in order to grow as a person. I don't let BPD hold me back any more. I've learnt to embrace it, work with it, run with it and love it.

We're together in this,
