Re: Bipolar vs. BPD
1. False Medication has been found to be effective in certain symptoms.
2. False Neural pathway problem, it's well researched that left and right hemispheric communication of the brain is the major problem. It can be managed not cured.
3. Reliant on environmental factors false that's PTSD, not BPD. The biosocial model points to the fact it's Hereditary and environmental together.
4. Correct
A changing mood isn't an indicator of BPD as claimed by Linehan theories that Emotional Dysregulation is at the core of BPD. Disproven
BPD is better classified as endurance of symptoms that begin from 0-7 years old. Many people are diagnosed with PTSD or the unrecognised illegitimate CPTSD; which has a 90% symptom overlay with PTSD disproves its existence as a separate disorder.
Many people are misdiagnosed as BPD when in fact they have PTSD.
My background is extensive grew up in the discipline since the age of three years old and have had over 75 specialists.
If you can diagnosis yourself with a personality disorder you don't have one; because at its core self-reflection is lacking. It has taken me decades of practice to acquire the ability to self reflect.
Diagnosis shopping is a major problem at the moment people act the part to get a diagnosis to fill the void/ confirmation bias. I recommend getting three professional opinions for accuracy specialists who are notoriously bad for diagnosing. 40-60% of diagnoses are incorrect.
Also, remember the DSM and ICD manuals for diagnosing are treatment guides not evidence of a diagnosis. The best evidence is a comprehensive history of enduring problems that aren't linked to trauma.

Re: Bipolar vs. BPD
Hi there @CJones ,
I can hear that things have been challenging for you. There have been times when I've questioned my diagnoses and treatments when I've felt like they haven't had can positive effect too. I hope that you have been able to talk to your psychiatrist about the concerns you have
Just wanted to also remind our community it is important to check in with health care professionals when seeking further treatment or discussing diagnoses. Each of our situations are so different, so what might apply or help for some may not apply or be helpful to others. Please remember to be respectful of each other's experiences
