we too have private health cover hospital and extras..
we have the top cover and $500 excess to reduce the premiums..
you could increase your excess...save the difference that your premiums are reduced by and keep that saved $500 in the bank as a back up plan..takes away additional so stress..also check what you are covered for..somethings you might not need yet ..or anymore..

I am in the public system but I pay the gap to see a private psychiatrist. This works really well for me.
