Yes, that particular quote stood out to me too, when first reading it. It sounds so simple & encourages healthy thought patterns.
A few nights ago, I was uncomfortably ruminating. I recalled the quote & didn't want to 'plan these negatives thoughts into my future."
My first instinct was -stop thinking about it - distract myself with a positive thought every time it popped up. Well, this backfired & made the bad thoughts more persistent!
I decided to try 'letting the thoughts be." Trying to remind myself to be aware they were there, without answering or adding to them. I think this worked much better.
