Re: Knitting

Good afternoon @Gwynn @Eve7 @Anastasia @Shaz51 @flybluebird @Rhye @Daisydreamer and all knitters here. I hope you're having fun with your knitting creations! I know I certainly am!

It's Friday and I've had the Ashes cricket on TV all day which means I've had some entertainment whilst knitting today. I've just completed another beanie for a furniture removalist in West Coast Eagles AFL colours from some wool I purchased at Big W on click and collect since Spotlight didn't have the colours in stock. See below for the photo

D7011B8A-7679-47D3-ADED-8E7EFE28F6C6.jpeg

I'm still working on my baby blanket for charity - up to knitting the final 6th strip out of 6 strips needed- and I'm going to have to wash it since some coffee got on the blanket before adding it to my pile. I've also started another blanket using chenille yarn out of an old box I found during the move on 8mm needles that I purchased yesterday at Big W whilst I was in there picking up my click and collect order that also included some black and white wool to knit a Collingwood beanie for the other furniture removalist which I plan on starting soon. The chenille yarn has 60 stitches on the needles which I plan on making into a baby blanket but the wool is so thick it means I can't knit it up quickly which is making the blanket hard to work on mentally for me as it's not thin like 8ply yarn is. I've also got to add 2 balls of light pink wool to my housemates Spotlight order to add to another baby blanket of pink shaded wool that I found last night which again, is in my never ending list of things to knit for charity. Somewhere along the line, I'd like to knit myself a jumper in 12 ply yarn I ordered for Christmas from Wangaratta Woollen Mills after seeing an ad on Facebook for the jumper and the wool being half price as well so it's a matter of trying to plan time for knitting for myself and knitting for charity. Yes, I'm still working on both my Mental Health Recovery Blanket and my Self Care Squares blanket as well but they've taken a rest whilst I do these other projects. The same with the baby jumper although that's gone missing since I've moved along with my housemates mother's cable scarf (I think the scarf is in a box in the garage somewhere!). Definition- I've got lots of knitting projects to work on😂!

Now, it's back to the cricket and some more knitting on the 8ply baby blanket!

Enjoy your knitting!

Re: Knitting

Hi there fellow knitting forumites @Shaz51 @Eve7 @Gwynn @Anastasia @flybluebird @Daisydreamer @Ripples and everyone here! Today, I chose to focus on knitting just for me and I'm pleased to say I finished my 14th square out of 81 for me Self Care Squares blanket. It's slowly getting there which I'm proud of as I'm taking it row by row, square by square and I'll slowly get this blanket done! see below for the photo. I'm now working on the 15th square in a dark purple to add to the collection of squares!

Re: Knitting

Hi @Shaz51 @Gwynn @Eve7 @Anastasia @flybluebird @Daisydreamer and all knitters here. Just thought I'd post a little story today where my knitting came to the rescue as for having something to do and to keep me busy.

Anyhow, today I had to take my new used car to the mechanic to get the air conditioning looked at as I was getting no cool air from it yesterday. This afternoon I took the car to the mechanic to be told the job would take at least 45 minutes so luckily for me, the mechanic let me stay in the waiting area whilst he did the work - it needed regassing of the air conditioner as it has run out of gas and hence, wasn't working. So, to make the use of my time, instead of going on Facebook and checking emails, I chose to knit the baby blanket I had packed and had a very productive 45 minutes knitting! Just goes to show it pays to keep your knitting handy as you never know when you'll get a chance to work on a project. I did finish the blanket later tonight whilst watching the Big Bash cricket match on TV and am now working on a Crazy Blabket for my housemate/best friend for Christmas which will be late as I'm just starting it now but she's fine with that. The blanket will be 1.8m wide x 1.9m high as the strip I found in my stash to start it is only 1.5m long so I'll add extra strips at the top and bottom of 20cm width each to make it fit her bed. Ah, the benefits and enjoyment of knitting! I'm so glad and grateful that I'm so creative with this craft hobby as it's come in handy now! I was initially working on sewing a blanket for her made of knitted squares that I'd knitted earlier on but those squares and that part of the blanket has gone missing in the midst of the house move so now she's getting a Crazy Blanket instead!

Enjoy your knitting forumites!

Judi9877☺️💐🧶

Re: Knitting

@sahz51 What a brilliant idea! I do love seeing them randomly on street signs - yarn bombing - I think that is what it's called? You all would know more about that than me 🙂

Re: Knitting

Hi @flybluebird @Gwynn @Shaz51 @Eve7 @Anastasia @Daisydreamer and all forumites here.

@flybluebird I've heard of yarn bombing and I've seen it done around where I used to live and around a local Spotlight store a few years ago. To be honest, whilst it looks nice and pretty and all, I personally find it to be a waste of yarn and in some ways a waste of time. I'd prefer to create items and give them away instead of decorating trees and items and letting the items deteriorate in the weather. That's just my opinion anyway though!

I have seen Christmas trees covered in crochet and knitted squares in different places in towns in Australia and overseas via the Internet on Facebook which look amazing! If I can find an image of one of the trees I'll post it here for all of you to see.

Take care!
