Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Good afternoon @Determined, @Adge, @Former-Member, @Smc, @outlander, @Faith-and-Hope, @Former-Member, @Former-Member, @Owlunar

I was repling to a another thread and I thought i would put it here too

My mr shaz can not cope with change and things happening , he keeps nearly all of his thoughts to himself which is hard as sometimes I think he is ok but really he was not ok

when he does tell me some of his thoughts , i try hard not to be shocked or surprised by what he says

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Good afternoon beautiful @Shaz51.  Thanks for tagging me. I need distractions from my own issues right now.  Heart

As for Mr Shaz keeping most of his thoughts and feelings to himself ... well, it is definitely not good for him to do that. So its a good sign, and an important outlet, when he does open up to you and talk about things. It can be difficult not to show a degree of shock or concern when he chooses to do so though.  My husband has always been quite open about his thoughts.  Sometimes much more so than I'd like. He can be very volatile, emotionally and physically, and I guess it often comes across that way too. So it can be a little frightening sometimes. I hope its not like that for you and Mr Shaz?

How are you going with regards to your own diabetes and kidney issues?  I hope your understandable upset at how your GP spoke to you about those matters, has reduced.  Are you doing anything this weekend?

Hi @Shaz51... not a lot I can say for that, except knowing it's a hard position to be in. Thinking of you, praying. x

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @Former-Member, thank you for your message xx

sometimes mr shaz attitude can come across as controlling for example if he wants to go home like NOW , or if he does not want to go somewhere like wednesday night when a family member was in town and wanted to have dinner together at the local hotel

today we went food shopping for my mum and us

and tomorrow I have organised a birthday morning tea for my uncle who turned 70

sometimes with what his thoughts are about I think wow -- will he do something ??

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

thank you @Smc HeartHeart

how are you this weekend xx

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Having a quiet and mostly lazy one so far. Still too tense, but somewhat better for having had a reasonable night's sleep.

Have deferred Fathers Day plans to the kids. After all, three of the four are now adults. They're a bit old for Mum to be the one making plans for their Dad. 😉 But I just realised I forgot to go out to buy the card our Younger Daughter had an eye on for her Dad, and newsagent's shut now... oops.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Like me being the stepmum @Smc

I usually remind the kids about father`s day , -- not today , it will be a surprise who rings their day mr shaz tomorrow xx

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Perhaps younger daughter could make a card @Smc

@Shaz51

Was reading an article about feeling powerless it cites things that restrict control include things like health and being a low level employee.

"Putting all of this together, we all want some kind of control in our lives. When our control in one area is restricted, we look for another outlet. That means that it is worth spending some time thinking about the areas of your life in which you can exert some control. Perhaps you have a creative outlet in which you feel you have mastery. One reason why these kinds of creative outlets are therapeutic is that they provide you with an arena in which you have control that you can use as a refuge when other elements of your life feel out of your control."
