Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Passive aggressive is one thing.. for me covert aggressive is the worst of them. But that is just my opinion of course @Faith-and-Hope and someone who does it all and throw in pathological lying and lack of conscience, not to mention total lack of empathy into the mix. with extreme narcissism.... well that's then a whole other entity again. 😞
Ooops but let me just add something for clarification purposes. One thing that is an absolute... all forms of it are so destructive, disorientating and frustrating and definitely insidious.
I don't understand why people have to be like that, but I do understand that some are.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
@Spookytookims .... haven't heard it labelled covert aggression before, but yes, that fits .... and the lying, lack of coscioence etc .... I know ours came from war damage, Took a lot years to bring it under control, mostly, and changing life circumstances for the parties involved .... but yeah .... so destructive and hard to understand. Learned how to keep it outside my door, and I understand for you guys it was even more immediate, and more intense.
Celebrating moving forward .... or at least around ....
Heading out for a river walk. Still early-ish here .....

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
@Faith-and-Hope This is the definition of covert aggressors from Dr Simon, he is my go to on manipulators because he is the one (that I know of) who has specialised in the study of manipulators and their modus operandi for the longest.
"Manipulators are covert-aggressors. They fight in ways that make it difficult to clearly see their aggression. They’re out to win, dominate, and control, to be sure. But they don’t want to be seen that way. So they cloak their aggression. If you knew what they were really up to, they’d run a higher risk of being resisted. And if you knew what they were really like, you’d be more wary of them. That’s why they hide their true nature and true intentions. Manipulators are the proverbial wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Covert aggressors know that if they can convince you they’re doing anything but fighting, they’re more likely to win. And they count on the conscientiousness of their victims. They prey on those with a sound conscience. They know, for example, that folks with a big conscience are sensitive to guilt and shame. So, if they can make you feel guilty or ashamed, they’ll hold sway."

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
MacarOns are meringue based biscuits made with almond flour and sandwiched together with ganache or other filling.
MacarOOn is a more generic term but is usually applied to a dense coconut biscuit.
(MacarOns are sometimes referred to as almond macarOOns).

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
@Former-Member aren't macarons the french originals? I could be wrong but that was my understanding. Not sure what the difference is so I'll take your obviously far more informed advice on that one.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
You could be right Spooky, not sure of the history.
Main difference to my mind is main ingredient almond meal vs coconut (coincidentally one o in almond, two in coconut version). The almond ones are heaps more expensive too.
Either way, both delicious ...
I tried making the almond ones, quite a process, blue food colouring everywhere, had to rest them before cooking, didn't taste good.
