Proactive ways of containing anxiety and panic
I am new to the group. My mum has Dissociative Disorder and Vascular Dementia/Early Alzeimers. She's had a challenging session with her psycologist yesterday and she is finding it difficult to contain her anxiety.

Re: Proactive ways of containing anxiety and panic
Hi @Minch and welcome to the forums
I'm sorry to hear about the difficult time your mum is going through, and I'm sure that it must be hard on you as well.
Did your mum's psychologist spoken to her about any strategies to manage anxiety and panic? Or are there any that your mum already uses or has tried?

Re: Proactive ways of containing anxiety and panic
Hey @Minch just wanted to stop by and share this helpful resource with you on different tools to help managing your anxiety. You might find that some techniques work better than others, or that some work in certain situations and not others, so it's good to have a few in your 'toolkit' so to speak.
My personal go-tos are deep breathing, challenging my anxious thoughts, getting outdoors and going for a walk, limiting my screen time (especially the news) and talking about how I'm feeling whether that's to a friend, family member, or to my counsellor.

Re: Proactive ways of containing anxiety and panic
Does your mum have a therapist or someone she can work with to help her @Minch . I'm reading that anxiety can be so paralysing sometimes.
Hope you are okay.
