Re: Riding a wave
PF: "Can you please use... what's the word that means you use the right words for things"
Me: "Specifics?"
PF: "yes. Pacifics. Can you use them so I can actually understand you?"
Puffer fish knows the secret to life I think 😉
I hope you've had a good weekend.
Goodnight @Phoenix_Rising 🙂

Re: Riding a wave
Good morning @CheerBear, @Shaz51 @Faith-and-Hope, Thank you for floating on the ocean over the weekend.
@CheerBear You have never made me feel unheard when I talk to you about my feelings. You didn't even enter my head when I was writing my post on Friday. I was thinking about a whole lot of instances with unhelpful helping people. I was almost tempted to break my no-posts-on-weekends rule to reassure you, but I hoped that "liking" the post would be enough to let you know that all was well.
@CheerBear I drafted a post to put on the Topic Tuesday thread re. our DBT adventure...but I have discovered that I can't post it there. I am wondering if @NikNik or @Former-Member have done some magic thing and made it such that you can't add comments to the thread. Pssssst, @Former-Member or @NikNik, that's your cue to come and explain the puzzle to us. This is me being subtle.
CheerBear I have just posted on the DBT thread. When I sat down yesterday to look at the section titled "Relationship of Emotion Dysregulation to DBT Skills Training," (pp. 11-12) I realised that there probably isn't anything in that section that you won't cover in your overview of the modules. Thus I think what I posted today is the last bit from me before you put up the bit you've been working on. Let me know if you think this flows well or if we are missing something. I super love that we get to sit in DBT headquarters together but not. I keep getting images in my brain of the pictures we posted of ourselves at DBT headquarters.
I SUPER loved your story about puffer fish. They have articulated my thoughts exactly (except that I can pronounce "specific" )!!! I am certain that like me, puffer fish doesn't mean to be annoying or difficult or argumentative, WE JUST CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I super wish I could hang out with your little puffer fish.
Ok, well I need to keep moving. My marking adventure awaits.

Re: Riding a wave
Good morning @Phoenix_Rising,
We do close the discussions for Topic Tuesday after they are complete. Why don't you go with the alternative plan of mentioning the members in the DBT post just letting them know of its existance and that they may be interested following the great topics you discussed on Topic Tuesday- but no pressure

Re: Riding a wave
I was in a bit of pickle re that post because I wanted to say what I said but I also didn't want you to feel like you needed to break your no posting on the weekend rule. Your like felt great thank you 🙂
I too am certain that neither your or puffer fish mean to be annoying, or difficult or argumentative too 🙂 I really mean that and I don't find either of you those things. I don't remember where but I remember once hearing the phrase (in relation to little people) "he/she is being really difficult" turned in to "he/she is having some difficulties". It stuck with me and is the way I have tried to see lots of things since. A bit like "what's wrong with you?" vs "what's happened to you?". I wish you and puffer fish could hang out too, though I think I'd be a bit jealous of my little if that happened 😄
Re the DBT adventure - I love your post and think it's been so important to provide this background. It will work really well with my coming post (hopefully). Like you, I will wait a day or so to post my post (I think Wednesday will work depending on whether there are replies), which will hopefully introduce how DBT can be useful, and will provide a good transition to the actual doing bit of it - the fun bit 😛 I am trying to condense my post a bit, but I guess even if it is long it is still less than reading the many pages of the book to get this info, and no-one is being made to read it (except maybe a mod sorry!).
Hope you have a good day with your marking adventures, and that neither your face nor your palms are too sore afterwards 😉
(Ps @Appleblossom - puffer fish are fabulous 🙂 )

Re: Riding a wave
@CheerBear @Former-Member @Former-Member Is it wrong that I am ROFL at one of the answers that one of my students has given. It is SO funny and I am SO busting to share it with someone, but I know it would be inappropriate to share it in Forum Land just in case the student is here. I definitely need to step away from this paper for a moment so that I don't write on the paper what is actually going through my brain right now. I so very VERY badly wish I could share this answer with you. Methinks I may need to share it with my turtle whisperer tomorrow because it is simply too funny not to share with someone.

Re: Riding a wave
Good night Forum Land. @CheerBear tonight I am going to snuggle in my shell in your pocket while you snuggle in your blanket in your nest in my cave at the bottom of the ocean. I am super trusting that you will come by here even without notifications. And even if you don't, I know you are here when you are not.
I am super excited that someone new has joined our DBT adventure. I am holding off posting there because of the notifications issue. I was all set to respond to the new person and also post my post re. inviting people from Topic Tuesday. Oh well, hopefully the clever IT people will solve the notifications issue tomorrow.
@Former-Member are you watching over the ocean tonight? See, I'm trusting you to appear too, even without the notification. I super liked that picture you posted of othe ocean on Friday night. If only ONLY the ocean could be that calm. I am super glad that I'm seeing my turtle whisperer tomorrow. I so very badly want her to help me unmuddle my muddle.
Good night Forum Land.
