Re: Riding a wave
I am wondering if today is the day that our books will arrive at their new homes. I think they would have stopped sitting next to each other by now and parted ways for their race across the country. I think it's funny that they would have taken only a day to get from the UK to Aus but they'll take a week to get across Australia.
Hoping you have a good day today and your face isn't too sore from the palms that are likely to hit it while you do your marking gig!
Hi to Zoe, Lunar, TheVorticon, Rockpool et al. too 😊

Re: Riding a wave
Good morning @CheerBear, I am not really here because I told myself I wasn't coming to Forum Land until I've marked two assignments...and I haven't started yet.
I feel bad because the funny face-palm moment with yesterday's assignment ended up being just the beginning of a downward spiral for the student and I've failed them, which makes me feel crappy. I super hate failing them. However, the lecturer will review any that fail and the ultimate decision will be with her so that makes me feel a bit better.
It is so superly duperly busting exciting about our books. Hey @Former-Member @Former-Member @Former-Member did you know that CheerBear, Zoe and I are going to do DBT together but not?
I think we need to take it super slow @CheerBear and @Zoe7. My understanding is that a "real" DBT group generally runs for a year with weekly 3-hour sessions, or something like that, so I'm hoping you guys aren't expecting to zoom through the book too quickly. I think slow and steady might be the best way to go.
Anyway, I need to go and tackle operation marking. Do you think the students would be worried if they knew that their marker was sitting at the computer cuddling her toy turtle while reading their papers?

Re: Riding a wave
I feel super sleepy. Hmmm...I can't decide if I want to sleep on the top of the ocean or down in my underwater cave. Um...no I think I can sleep on the top of the ocean tonight. @NikNik you are watching over the ocean tonight aren't you?
@CheerBear I checked the letterbox TWICE today just in case my book came. They must be getting close!!!! It is so superly duperly bustingly exciting.
@Zoe7 I hope you are travelling ok this evening. You are always super welcome to snuggle in the cave.
Good night Forum Land.

Re: Riding a wave
@Zoe7 Yay for your book setting off on its flight to Australia!!!! @CheerBear Awwwwww mine isn't here. I have just got home from my volunteering gig (and about to dash out again to my violin lesson). I read your post re. your book at lunchtime and I was busting to get home. But alas, my book must still be in transit. I guess that makes sense - one would expect a turtle's book to take a little longer to arrive than a care bear's.
Oh well, waiting for my book and @Zoe7's book will give us a bit of time to think about how we are actually going to go about this. I am very mindful of the fact that threads are immortalized in Forum Land and a thread that works through the DBT skills manual seems like it could be a pretty cool resource for who-knows-how-many people.
Anyway, I have to dash now. Maybe see you at Friday Feast???
