oh nooooo!!! i'm so sorry to hear about the external hard drive not working 😭 i had to download softwares for my psych classes to do statistic analyses on... and gosh i remember how annoying it was trying to download and then struggling with the compatibility. i imagine its much more difficult when you're whole course relies on you using various programs/software!!

i do wonder - would downloading windows onto your mac help with the compatibility?? i remember my old teacher used to have a mac but it worked like windows, had all the windows programs, etc., she mentioned that she downloaded windows onto it because she didn't like the apple programs (but she loved the aesthetic of the mac haha). idk how much it costs or if its still even possible to do that cos this was almost 10 years ago, you might need to ask your IT teacher more about it

Yeah, @Blackcloud , do that first before you buy anything else. It may be a simple answer. I can hear how stressful it can be. I just hope you don't make any rash decisions if there is a simple solution.

@rav3n ooooh I never knew downloading windows on a Mac was a thing! 😮 that’s very interesting to know about and I’ll definitely look into it (I hope it’s still a thing though :’)) but yeah last year when I wanted to swap my old MacBook for a new MacBook, I guess I should have swapped it for a windows laptop instead of getting a new MacBook 😞

@Blackcloud does your uni allow students to borrow laptops?? my friend sometimes forgot to take her iPad to uni and she'd borrow a windows laptop from the uni (for the day).

@rav3n oh great!!! now seems like im unable to download windows on my current macbook either :') how wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

i was following a tutorial video (that was filmed and uploaded last year) on how to download windows on a macbook and you do need to be able to download it through the Boot Camp Assistant and when I did that on mine, it says that this MacBook doesn't support Boot Camp Assistant, whereas the youtuber on the other hand was able to access it - but he used a different macbook so its compatible to that (unlike my current one lol)
