How can I talk about severe MH issues without the threat of being locked up in hospital?
Even my GP and Therapist want me to go.
But I have been in hospital. And it's f***ing worse than not being in hospital.
But no one listens to you when you say that because they don't want to believe that sending you there will make you worse. They want to have their nice, imaginary safety net for their own conscious. I get told by these people who have not had any first hand experience of the situation that my own experiences are wrong and I should go in. I feel like they're trying so hard to sweep me under the carpet.
So if MH professionals don't want to talk about it and hospital makes it worse, what the hell am I meant to do?

For all the talk we hear about how "mentally ill" and suicidal people need to talk about their plights, nobody ever seems willing to listen, do they?
It's just a BS deal, @Jlol . Like you, I just don't know what we're supposed to do about it.

@Jlol So sorry to hear how hard things are for you. It really sucks, I know. I don't have much advice, as I have a similar view to you re getting the help we need and not being heard. I just wanted to say that no matter what others say/do, never give up on yourself. Easier said than done, again, I know... If only there was an easy answer.
All I can say really is to show up for yourself and don't isolate yourself if you can manage it. All we can do is take things one day at a time, tomorrow will worry about itself so I just try to stay in the moment - I am still working on that one.
Take care of yourself, whatever you decide to do xo

Hi @Jlol
Totally understand where you are coming from. The threat of hospital has already come from my psychiatrist.
It is tricky. You want to share everything with your supports, but if you do then there feels like there are consequences.
Have they offered you alternates to hospital at all?

"Have they offered you alternates to hospital at all?"
No. I don't even know what that would be. I'm seeing a GP, psychologist, and psychiatrist privately, but beyond that what services are available?

Hi @Jlol and @chibam I've heard of a program called hospital in home. I hope they offer it in your area, this might be a program looking into for your selves. I know from my last experience in hospital it's hard to see it as a safe space, they are only human and make mistakes and Mental Health is so complex and everyones story is different. You matter and deserve the help you require.

@Blackbird11 Well, I was more loosely agreeing with @Jlol that nobody's interested in listening to the predicaments of the so-called "mentally ill", rather then indicating that I need hospital care, or the like.
The "hospital in home" system that you mention still sounds like a system that treats peoples' problems as if they are medical issues - and therein lies the reason why the mental health system does a lot of dammage to the people who turn to it for help. Because what they really need is assistance with their broken lives, not any sort of medical treatment.
But, unfortunately, if you are someone suffering from a badly broken life, most people are likely to direct you either to a therapist, or a hospital if things are really going bad for you. Because the general public have been grossly mislead into believing that therapists and hospitals fix the broken lives of suffering people.

Hi @Jlol I am currently receiving hospital in the home. An mh nurse visits me weekly and that has been helpful but I still have to be careful what I say as she can be keen to suggest hospital.

Sounds interesting @Eve7,
If you don't mind me asking (don't feel pressured to answer) what do they actually do? EG how does a once a week visit help?

She just comes, checks up on me @Jlol and asks about my mood. It’s covered completely by my health fund ($300 each visit)! She reports to my pdoc.
I guess it helps knowing someone will visit and I can be honest with her even though I know she’ll suggest hospital if I tell her too much. She also checks about my sh and asks to see it. At first I wouldn’t show her but I usually do now if it’s not too bad. That keeps me accountable.
Its a voluntary visit and I can stop it at any time.
