Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

I am currently reading edition 5 of essentials of abnormal psychology. The wandering womb was found in there along with some other terrifying history of care of the mentally ill. Made me grateful for being mentally ill now and not in the past - recent or otherwise. I only have this textbook for one week as it is a reference book from my library but it is very interesting. I actually wanted to get a book on schema therapy but the library didn't have anything on that. So far I have only read one and a half chapters. Will have to focus my reading to the parts that pertain to my own diagnoses as the book has to be back by Thursday. Trying to catch up to my psychologist in knowledge (not that that's even possible)

Hello @Oaktree

You brought a smile to my face when I read that you were

currently reading edition 5 of essentials of abnormal psychology.

I had not even reached the now infamous WWW.

Then you would have to be the only person I know to write the following words

Made me grateful for being mentally ill now and not in the past - recent or otherwise.

I of course know where you are coming from in fact it is only about 20 years ago that there were still mental institutions.

Women who practised natural therapies; grew their own herbs and made tonics were burnt at the stake labelled witches... They were basically being self sufficient growing an organic garden...

Dear @Oaktree you do not have to catch up in knowledge with your psychologist who has special qualifications and trained for a certain number of years to be paid for that role.

You pay for the expertise.

I do get wanting to know more about your diagnosis.

That can also become a minefield.

There are so many books on different diagnoses and we all have our own life experiences which are a big part of our symptoms and how we learn to live with them...look after ourselves as best as we can...

I do think that it is great that you are following through with your appointment. I read that it has been some time and starting again can bring nervous energy to the fore....

If you tell the specialist about your new writing group and escapades .....they will probably  need to seek treatment themselves....hearing about all of our imaginative minds and stories...

I still am confused as our thread is very confusing....noted by several over the time...

is your character going to be Meg?

It is easier for us all to have a name...what the stories that follow are about do not have to flow with the name..Just sets you apart from your user name...

Also will avoid misunderstandings keeping the real Meggle separate from the virtual character...

If you have not got a clue what I am talking about...just ask..

love Sophia 1  🧡💛💚💜💙

now known as Selkie in the thread xxx

I do not read all of my labels which I take no notice of anyway....

I notice symptoms and work around stuff from there...whether to rest....get out in the garden...walk....get in touch with nature...cuddle my cat even more....

How are you feeling today?

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Hello @HenryX the journalist .....

I am surprised that you are returning to read more....laugh..

Oh my goodness you must have thought to yourself...

I only went out for a full day and a half thereabouts and look at what they have got up to!!  😶

What are you thoughts on the latest attempts?

are you about @Oaktree ?

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

How are you @Flax

Are you hiding from us in case we give you more stories to work on laugh...

So much for free falling ...

Are you still keen to join in...

You can say hello....bring some food and trust me everyone takes over...

Or hello on it's own will creat a connection..

This might come as a surprise but I am not a loud person...

I do not have an extroverted personality...

I believe once under some boring workshop programmed I was deemed as having an extroverted introverted personality....I was called an extroverted introvert...not very nice was it...

more labels..

So say hello if you would still like to join us...

Hopefully I have not frightened you away...

AS you have observed I do work very hard at trying to keep it going and then flop down .....

I am only now in the past few years starting to accept myself as having a creative side as I now can open my eyes and see it in many different areas...

So that is another thing that always threw me,,,,being creative is not just about being good at art or quilting or drawing or sewing or writing....

It is about allowing our mind to think up something from ourselves...

Oh dear I am talking too much..

Shall leave you in peace...

Do hope to hear from you soon...

Hi Everyone,

My usual method is to put a word processor page on the left side of the screen, into which I write my responses to the posts in the thread, that I have on the other half of the screen. I do believe that it may take me quite a while to comment on everything that has transpired during the last few days. It may be best for me, in any case, to simply acknowledge and continue on from the present.

While I have been really concerned about events, I think that I will now start fresh from here, because I am sure that my responses, so far, have expressed my thoughts and feelings.

On a lighter note, some of the more recent, positive, pleasant and playful comments have been a source of considerable good humour, for me. Included in those, are observations about the way that people have described and pictured their thoughts about how I must have felt, as I unexpectedly came across a virtual train-wreck, as I swung around a bend. Again some good humour has surfaced even in difficult circumstances.

Hi guys I am at Church. Choir practice is just starting. I have no idea who I want to be as far as a character. I think my account will be deactivated tomorrow anyway

Hello @Oaktree

It is my sincere hope that you will not deactivate your account, Meg.

Obviously, it is your choice, whichever direction you wish to take, which, as a friend, I must respect. However, It is most certainly my wish that you retain your membership of the forum.

If you would accept my request, you could send an email, hopefully after choir, requesting your previous request not proceed, that would be very good. I acknowledge that it is your prerogative to take whichever direction that you wish.

I am following this short note, with a more 'expansive' one, Meg, that I also hope will be of interest to you.

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Hello @Oaktree

Meg,

Your new avatar looks really nice. I like the butterfly motif.

How are you going? The last few days have been really quite busy for me. On Tuesday, I had a dental appointment, where I was asked to get a full dental x-ray, for which I had intended going to Geraldton on Wednesday. I think that there is another “cosmic connection” there. However, didn't feel up to the drive on Wednesday and decided to go, after singing at Residential Care and doing some shopping, in town, on Thursday. Fortunately, there are two radiology clinics in Gero'. At the first, to which I went, the machine was not working, so it was suggested I go to Geraldton Regional Hospital Radiology. All ok and completed in half an hour, including waiting time.

Purchased a new printer – cheapie, to fill in, while I service my good one to get it operational again. Also purchased some gardening tools, did some grocery shopping, then returned home. I arrived home quite late, but completed some more forum activity. From memory, forgot to take medication as soon as I arrived home. It encourages sleep as positive side effect to primary AD function.

As a result, I woke up fairly late Friday morning, and proceeded with the project that I am working on with/for you. Saturday was a conference meeting in Geraldton, that I have described in another post.

This morning, I attended a lovely joint community Christian Church Service, in the town in which I live. The people attending included members of all the faith communities in the town. Many former town residents came from Perth and some people who, while travelling, had heard of the service to be held, while visiting in a nearby town, also were there. They live in Albany. Some of the people had known each other as children, from sixty+ years ago. There were also quite a few younger people who attended, about which I was very pleased. The service was followed by a light lunch. The whole occasion was one in which, I felt, was really special for me, in which to have been able to participate.

So at the moment, while I am not feeling exhausted, I really feel just a "bit ragged" or "frayed at the edges".

With all the winter rain and a lot of sunshine, everything is overgrown, so I am going to have to get my gardening gear functional, including recent purchases, as well as the operator (me), in order to bring everything to an acceptable state. Consequently, a bit of physical work ahead of me.

You had said that you are reading the “Essentials of Abnormal Psychology”. If you would like to download a copy of the book in PDF format, you can use the following website. You will find a whole range of books that are likewise available through the site. It may also provide access to reference books that may be useful for your daughter's studies as well.

To download a book;

(and, that the websites (1.) and (2.) shown below, present for selection.

1. To open Preview Download page

  • right-mouse-click on the title, to open the download page, for that title, in a new TAB

    or

  • left-mouse-click on the title, to open the download page, for that title, in the same TAB

2. To download a PDF copy of the selected book title, Left-click Download in the

V Download (PDF) | Vbox. (There is an "arrow" in a green blob on the left side of the word "Download" and a selection "down arrow" on the right, that offers different formats)

3. The down arrow, on the right side of the download box, offers format options:

  • eg. PDF , EPUB , MOBI .

  • For my purposes, I always use PDF, unless that option is not available.

Unfortunately the layout of the download process, did not transfer as nicely as I would have liked. However, I hope that I have made it clear enough to follow.

Hi @HenryX

Sorry to hear that you are fraying at the edges - hope that you are ok 💜

Re: Writing and receiving letters via virtual post

Good Morning @Oaktree

Nice to be still able to 'talk' with you, for which I am very pleased. I hope that you are well and feeling settled.

"The fraying at the edges" was more a matter of weariness yesterday, as a result of a slightly higher level of activity, than I have been accustomed to more recently. So it may, in a sense, be an internal message to me to be somewhat more active. With that purpose in mind, I am reducing the amount of pain medication that I am taking. This is an attempt to have a better feeling of my physical responses to what I do externally, as distinct from sitting at the computer.

Pain medication, I think, can blunt my awareness of both good and not so good stressors and their effects. Hopefully, by reducing the medication level, I will be better able to guage my responses to every-day type physical activities, in an effort to improve my overall capacity.

Thank you for expressing concern with regard to my situation, as expressed yesterday. I am ok, and, as mentioned above, hoping to improve my capacity.

How was the choir practice session last night? I do hope that the atmosphere was pleasant and that you felt at ease with the other members.  And I hope that eveything else is going well for you.

With my Very Best Wishes for You, Meg

@HenryX
