When I first hit high school, Donny Osmond was at the height of his career. Pictures of Donnie were plastered all over my bedroom walls and Purple became my new fave colour.
"Oh Donny; my 13 year old heart beats only for you in my Deep Purple Dreams."

Talk about a (purple) flash-back in time! HA!!

@Former-Member, I love bearded irises, which come in all sorts of interesting shades of purple (and other colours too...). These ones are from my garden.
Dutch irises are nice too, but I've never had much success with growing them. Houdini- almost black purple.
Blue Petticoat- purple edge ruffles.
Filibuster... not sure if I've still got this one. It didn't flower this year, and may have died out.

@Smc Maybe it is too warm. I though they were easy, I am down south and my irises are taking over the court. I have a lot of purple in garden.
First LP I bought was Deep Purple.

@Appleblossom, I'm in coolish Central Vic. I certainly see them flowering in other nearby gardens, don't quite know why they haven't liked mine. BUT over the past couple of years I've managed to make progress with peonies and delphiniums, which have been others which have failed for me in the past, so perhaps the Dutch Irises are coming up to their turn. ๐
