Hi to all,
i found this as an art form I’d never seen before. I found it so mesmerising and calming. The video I’m putting up is over 12 mins long but there are plenty of shorter ones. It’s an Indian art called rangoli
Here is the wiki reference
Rangoli is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. It is usually made during Diwali or Tihar, Onam, Pongal and other Hindu festivals in the Indian subcontinent. Designs are passed from one generation to the next, keeping both the art form and the tradition alive.
i thought of you @Faith-and-Hope but thought @Appleblossom might like it too. Love to hear from others that appreciate it too. 💜🤗

Stunning @Faith-and-Hope
They are beautiful and simple, but I was feeling for the guy in you youtube's back!
It puts the Tibetan mandala and the sweeping away of the beauty .. in broader culture
Thanks for sending me on a beautiful journey.

I loved the one you put up too @Appleblossom , and yes I was thinking about that guys back.
It kind of is a different spin on dot painting too. I love the simplicity and beauty of it. It would take lots of practice to be able to do each pile so precisely.
@Faith-and-Hope that one looks spectacular as well.
it was a nice find today. 💜🤗

I cut all the pieces then the kids put them all together @Maggie I love watching the kids work together to hold each piece together while another one glues and nails it all together. The only downside is finding enough old fence pailings for a whole class lol I have asked the other teachers if they have any and will put a piece in next week's newsletter asking parents also. Sometimes the tip shop has some - will head there tomorrow to see if they have any. We are going to make them for our school Art exhibition - it all needs to be recycled materials for the exhibition so we can't use new palings. The kids are really excited about it so I hope I get enough for the whole class - might have to pull down my back fence lol
