Having to retell our stories over and over can be one of the difficult things about seeking help for ongoing health problems. This is especially the case when what we have to retell is traumatic. Sounds like the psychiatrist is being mindful of the fact that this may bring up difficult thoughts and emotions and that the extra meds might be a good idea temporarily to assist with it. I wonder if you have already started on the higher dose of meds and how many times you have seen the psychiatrist.

@Angels333, really understand the tired part of depression. Even now that I've started to come out of a very deep and long depression, I nap during the days to deal with emotional exhaustion from new stimulation and extra effort expended. Downside of changing meds dose is that we have to go through some adjustment physically to new med dose. Sometimes it all seems like a difficult cycle with these things, doesn't it? But at least I hope the raised dose may help with the self harm and even lift the depression for you to some extent too (I'm guessing it's an anti-depressant dose you are raising). No worries with your tiredness. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Sometimes it helps even just to have a short chat here.

@Former-Member, so glad you are feeling better than you were before. Sorry the anxiety is still hanging around. Don't worry about your 'rant' earlier, it was very short and not extreme. I too get resentful about spending money I don't have on psychiatrists. Most I have seen have bulk billed (I do advance research on the net and then ring around to find ones who do this). Makes me more cheerful about them in general. That may not have been an option for you where you are though. Sounds like you are much more interested at this point in exploring the psychology options instead anyway. Lots of different approaches to mental health. We all have to find the one that works best for us as individuals.
