Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @NikNik

how are you? your pizza looks yum!!!

I think this cold icy freezing weather is affecting my already negative and dark depression. I can't seem to find a way to get through it.

I tried to make contact with you the other day but you weren't around 😞

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi guys!!
I know I'm late sorry...
How has everyone's week been?? I've had a bit of a stressful week with a work meeting, and been fighting the blue mood that's coming....

As a coping tool for when I'm struggling I braid/macrame etc bracelets and similar. Except I can only use so many of them.

Today (to reward myself for making through the week with no major problems) I bought a knitting loom. I can't knit for peanuts, but using a loom is similar to my Kumihimo disk.

So I am attempting to knit a scarf atm. We'll see how bad it turns out 😂😂

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

I'm fairly new to this forum and I'm amazed at how well everyone supports each other. It's awesome to see (read). When I can't find solace in my immediate friends and family it's good to come to and see others being consoled and supported. Xo

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Krisleigh great to have you here. Can I ask what you study?

@BlueBay lovely to see you! Sorry I haven't been around much this week, but it looks like you've had a lot amazing support from others. I hope you've been feeling their support and taking care of yourself

@Crazy_Bug_Lady Keep on fighting! (or 'just keep swimming' as Dory would say) Glad you've joined us tonight. I'm hopefully at crafty things like knitting etc. A friend tried to help me make a scarf (one straight line, right?) I did not end well...

@Former-Member - we're here. Is there anything in particular you'd like to chat about tonight? Your vegie burger sounds delicious

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi everyone,

W had pizza here too @NikNik. Maybe even as good as the one in your photo but it was from good takeaway so they're experts.

Great to see you pop in to the feasts, @Jacques. Hope your UTI clears really quickly now you have been on the antibiotics for a few days.

Hi @BlueBay and @Former-Member, hugs for your difficult feelings tonight.

Welcome to the feast, @Bimby2@Krisleigh, glad you joined us. @Bimby2, your meal sounds really delicious and wholesome. Home made moussaka, yum, @Krisleigh.

Hi @Crazy_Bug_Lady, great that you made it through the week with no major probs. I think it's fantastic that you channel some of your difficult emotions into craft work. Bet the knitted scarf turns out better than expected. If not, practise will make you better at it I'm sure.

Today I had a session with my psychologist. I thought I might end our sessions after this sixth session and had written to her suggesting that. But instead, we took a whole new approach today, which I found much more helpful than what we were doing previously. I feel a bit silly now for some of things I said about her on the forum earlier in the week when I was really struggling with our relationship and therapy. Seems today we had a bit of a breakthrough both in the relationship between us and the new direction in therapy. Feeling good about that tonight.

Hope the weekend treats everyone well. Smiley Happy

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @NikNik im studying a Bachelor of Arts majoring in creative writing. Im first year presently but will take on more later when I'm more confident of my time management. Life always gets in the way otherwise. I have an ebook of poetry soon to be published. I haven't told my publisher about my illness as yet but I don't feel it's that important unless he wants a bio. I love writing and want to become a full time novelist, health permitting. I struggle with self-confidence but I'm getting there with work done with my psychologist.

Hi @Former-Member

Are you okay? What are you doing.  It is freezing where I am.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Mazarita glad to hear you have had a breakthrough with your psych.

I'm aiming to do about 60cm total, and stitch the ends together to make a neck warmer, more than an actual scarf. 5cm down, 55cm to go Woman LOL Woman LOL Woman LOL Woman LOL

I am not a crafty person. Or any good with words or art or music like so many on here are. I initially started braiding and wearing the bracelets as a fidget, so I'd twist and fidget with the bracelet instead of harm myself. Then I started using the braiding or similar process to calm and focus on when I'm struggling. This loom knitting is actually fairly similar, and dead easy.

I use braiding and similar repetitive "crafty" things to calm me down and help me focus on problems. It keeps my hands busy while not being destructive.
