Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Happy new year @Crazy_Bug_Lady

I also had a pretty quiet night. Stayed home, and was in bed by 11:30! But it meant that I got up early to go play in the mountains. Smiley Very Happy Also just another day for me, but a good day at that. What did everyone else get up to?

@Crazy_Bug_Lady did you work with your heifer today?

I'm making a vegetarian feast (as always) but I thought I'd go for something fresh and light tonight. Seeing it's summer time.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @CherryBomb & @Crazy_Bug_Lady...

My partner & myself drove away apx 2 hours to Brisbane yesterday morning. My partner went for a bicycle ride with two good friends while I visited my mum. Then I met them all for coffee after their ride. Due to the early morning we went to bed at about 9:30. Started feeling depressed & suicidal early evening yesterday & still feel that way today (I am safe). My sister just called me & we talked for an hour. She is going to make a historical sexual assault report to the police & she wanted to know if I remembered her telling me, but thanks to ECT I don't. Apparently I was touched as well. She also discussed my dad & some more horrible things he said to her when he reluctantly gave her a few thousand towards her baby's eye operation. Now I am anxious as well as the low mood.

In 2009 & 2010 we drove to Double Island Point on the beach in a Jeep & watched the first sunrise of the year. They were my favourite new years celebrations.

Not the best start to a new year in 2016...

Namaste,

Anna

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi ,

My husband and I had a quiet night at home , I texted everyone a happy new year message , and received lots of texts back throughout the night using all my phone credit

It was wonderful catching up with everyone

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Feeling a bit poisonous in the belly after wine last night. Still managed to get in a long beach walk to start out the New Year well today and visited a friend earlier. Taking things very easy. Last night was fun spending some time with a friend and two of her women friends, all good to be with. Then a quiet few hours at home with partner until we went to the beach for midnight. In bed by 12.30. I was going to try to stay awake for the dawn but I'm glad I didn't now. Overall a good time. Cat Happy

@Former-Member

Gosh, I can see why you are feeling low. I'm sorry that your New Years didn't have the best start.

It's not an easy conversation to have, and it's a so much to process.  Have you had previous discussions surrounding the sexual abuse before with your sister? If not, I imagine that it could be shock to discuss. It might be helpful to contact some specialst support services such as CASA to help talk through what you're going through.

Please try to allow yourself some space to work through the conversation that you had with your sister. It's only natural that you're feeling low after having such a discussion. I'm glad to hear that you're safe, but If you feel like things are getting too much and you feel you are at risk, please don't hesistate to contact crisis support

Lifeline: 13 11 14 or Crisis Chat

Suicide call back service: 1300 659 467 or online counselling

If in immediate danger: 000

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Sorry to hear you had a rough start to 2016 @Former-Member, Sexual assult is so horrible, i can never understand how men can seem to live with themselves after abusing a woman, i could not live with it.

Hugs to you @Former-Member, hope things get better soon.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @CherryBomb, had a quiet new years eve, watched the Sydney fireworks on TV, then watched Audre Riur live in the Netherlands till 3am, WOW what an amazing musician. Today i bought myself a coffee Machine 😄 so a good start for me 🙂

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

You should bring the coffee machine to the Friday Feast @Jacques! Can I have a coffee? Does it have froth maker?? If so, I'll have a soy latte. Smiley Wink

Sounds like @Jacques @Mazarita and @Shaz51 had a good night. I love how quiet things seem to be on New Years day.

Anyone got any good tips on how to recover from the festive season antics?

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @Former-Member - hard conversations and steps ahead. Hope all goes well for your Sister's lodging the report. Sorry your past has this terrible truth in it too, many of us do. It is something that us survivors struggle with, and we also go on to live good lives, as best we can. Heart

@CherryBomb - I went to bed at 9.30. Smiley Very Happy my favorite activity on New Years Eve.

We have our dogs so we stay at home for them because the area we live in has a fireworks display 1/2 a kilometre away so we stay at home to keep darling furkids happy and safe. My partner stays up till after the midnight noise.

In 2013 - we had lost both our darling old dogs one to a heart attack the other to 'It's Time" so were dog 'free' for the first time in over 20 years on NYE. We went down to the local New Year Eve party and watched the fireworks, the BESt part was watching a gaggle of Indian Australian kids all google eyed, saying "oooooooooowwww" with every flash and bang. They were so into it, they were infectious - we just sat on the footpath and joined in with them. That was nice.
