Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Dear @Former-Member take it very gently on those machines etc.  If we push without awareness it is easy to injure self. I have met women chatting madly and falling off steppers, treadmills etc

I went to gym in rehab capacity for a long time... was very careful and analytical about which exercises caused which effect ... over the years it has really helped me .... though bit lazy about physical exercise atm. Take care.

Good to see you @Bill16 @Former-Member @Mazarita @Rosie and @Jacques

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Feel better soon @Former-Member, rest up. Better take the opportunity to get some R&R while the kiddos are asleep!

@Mazarita do you aim for a particular bed time? I can relate as I am a night owl - Usually I aim to turn the lights out by 10.30pm but I am pretty hopeless at sticking to a schedule. Of course I pay for it the next day when I wake up with big black bags under my eyes! Lately I have taken to drinking herbal tea before bed (the caffine free ones like chamomile, peppermint), and I have found it to be a great ritual to symbolise the wind-down time before bed. Have you found anything that works for you?

Welcome @Appleblossom that soup looks mouth watering. Good to see we have a few healthy options on the dining table tonight!! *nibbles on some baby-corn*

Thanks for stopping by @Rosie oh my word, tapas and haloumi... you read my mind. My taste buds are doing a virtual dance right now! @Jacques I am so glad to hear you are a haloumi lover too! Better get in quick or I might gobble the whole lot up myself! Wow that is a major achievement to get the lights all fixed up. What an operation! How did you manage before hand? A friend of mine uses lots of candle light, but I get a bit worried about the fire hazzard! Though it is very pretty and has a great ambience. The new lights must make such a difference at night time especially.

Welcome @chookmojo - thanks for the asparagus!!! Yummo. How are you? Did you have to work the later shift again tonight?

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

OMG @chookmojo,

why did you have to bring the asparagus, i love the stuff, i usually eat them stright out of the jar while watching TV.  and goats cheese too, yyyuuummm!!!!

@Former-Member, well, we just wandered around in the dark, i sometimes walked into a door or wall but not often, i suppose i got used to it, but it was difficult when we had anyone here because they struggled to see, i am still wandering around in the dark, i can't get used to having lights, the last time they all worked was 1998 so i suppose it has been a while.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hi @Mosaic

I actually finished early today and got a lift home so that was a nice start to the weekend. Didn't get much done today as I had a shocking headache, thankfully that has eased up, so now I am just relaxing in the lounge with the cats. Lovely.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Former-Member I've had weird sleep rhythms for a very long time including living dusk to dawn for long stretches of time and fairly recently. I'm focussing on improving this over recent few months with the help of a new psychiatrist. At the moment I try to get myself into night clothes as a signal for sleep before 11pm and have a mug of milo. I aim for bed before midnight but often find it impossible to sleep for long stretches after getting into bed. My body clock tends to want to drift back to dusk to dawn all the time. I'm persisting with trying to shift this because I think it might ultimately change my overall life for the better if I can improve on this.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Mazarita, i have trouble sleeping of a night too, if you have a smart phone you can download relaxation apps, they are fantastic, i use them often and sometimes go to sleep while they are still going, you don't need to turn them off they just finish after a set time, maybe worth a try.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Mazarita

I used to be a total night own, going to bed at dawn... Then I worked in hospitality for years, getting up at 4am, and discovered that it didn't much matter to whether I saw 4am as the last part or first part of my day, I just love that predawn time. Everything is quiet and peaceful and slightly unreal and magical. And I fell in love with sunrises.

These days my cats tend to wake me up around 4.30 or 5 am, and I do love being up and about and the only person in the world for an hour or two.
