I have always been a cat-lover. My daughters have had pet cats since they were babies and were just heartbroken when they passed away of old age.
So off we trotted to a cat shelter to adopt one. And one more. And one more. And one more. And one more. Yes, we adopted 5. (apparently I made history, the first person to adopt 5 kitties at the same time)
It was a circus for the first few weeks, but they've settled in well and they are learning to trust us with their love.
Sooty and Smokey were tiny burmese kittens, extremely timid and not typical of their breed at all. Beautiful blue Sooty is highly protective of her tiny cream-pointed brother and he cries if he can't find her to snuggle in to. Mind you, the littlest one is often the most mischievious - notice he's the only one in the pic who has slipped his collar.
Midnight is Miss 8's special kitty, black all over and very soft and fluffy. He chose her at the shelter and loves her singing and affection.
Celia is Miss 10's special kitty, also black all over and such a squeaky chatterbox. She loves to snuggle up to her bookworm mama and is beautiful company.
Tigga is the most affectionate of all and has become my special tabby boy. With only 3 legs he is still the fastest when galloping up the hall and his antics up and down the cat trees are nothing short of acrobatic. He wakes me everymorning with nose rubs and if I don't respond he pats my face until I do.
I can't imagine getting though the day without their love and affection. Just to touch their fur brings comfort.
