I could say the same. @Stout I wore patched hand me down pants and darned socks for years, but low paid parents who had zero imagination or ambition seemed to get by by muddling around in menial labour, saving even, accom was provided, food subsidised in different ways no rent , no bills for near 20 years can tend to get things on track, also father bought a new car with 3 young children as a labourer. never stopped moaning about how car industry was subsidised years later, but he could afford things even w young family. when I was 10-11 he bought a house in town for like 3.5 years of his low wage , no or little mortgage and rented it out for years to someone earning far more than he was. dumb luck on dumb luck hey .. now its survival/the streets, neighbours are crims/druggos etc etc had to work 10x harder than father ever did w 8 hr days and lunch and 2 smokos w coffee thermos and cake and it never got me anything except short term spending money and huge tax bills lol
