Sadness. I feel teary. Shoulders hunched. Slouching posture. I often feel an emptiness in my body, btwn my heart and gut. I cry. Cry. Cry.

@cloudcore

Feeling of sadness coming on feels like a flood and tears start flowing from my eyes and nose and it seems I can not stop

Re: Sadness

Q3. Physically, I slow down, become less active and isolate myself from others as much as possible when I am sad. Everything becomes an effort. I sigh alot and am often in tears.

Re: Sadness

I get and feel sad when I'm often overwhelmed, tired, not coping , have sad thoughts or memories or when life feels or is too hard. Tears come very quickly and easily.

Re: Sadness

The signs are a tight / empty / bad / heavy/ uncomfortable/ painful feeling in my stomach area. Tears come quickly and easily. I slouch too and feel tired and like I want to sleep / nap a lot and not wake up and not face the world. Want to avoid / hide away from people and the world. I withdraw.

Re: Sadness

Hi @cloudcore

For me sadness is coming on when I feel teary or a sore throat. For me I think I feel sadness around the throat but also in the gut area.

With sadness, I feel a cold sensation swept through my body, draining me of feeling. It is as though blood is draining from my head to my toes so that I just want to curl up in bed to stay warm.

Re: Sadness

Final Question:

How do you manage and cope with sadness?

Re: Sadness

Hi @cloudcore

I do journalling a lot to help me to deal with sadness and other emotions and help me to understand why I feel this way.

Re: Sadness

Hi All,

I try to get through periods of sadness by a few different methods.

Writing down my thoughts,

Phoning friends I know who I can trust

Reading

Distracting myself by watching DVDs, particularly superhero type stuff.

Drawing

Sometimes these work, other times it's just trying to hang in there.  I then try and remember the stuff I learned at  counselling sessions and the knowledge that feelings change with time and I am strong enough to get through the bad times.

Hope everyone is doing OK.
