Re: Roses are red, violets are blue, here's a poetry thread, from me to you! (TW)
And hugs back @tonys. I'll post it and see if it needs to be censored.
@Glisten and my fellow Perthvillians, have you noticed a strange phenomenon happening with the weather? All this wet stuff has been coming from the skies and some loud claps of thunder too. I'd almost forgotten what rain was!!
This poem was written about the families of soldiers who fought in Vietnam. A little backstory, the poem was written for my grandmother, and the line about already losing his father, my grandfather was on the HMAS Sydney and he died on the 19/11/1941 when the Kormoran sank it. It was my grandfathers' 21 birthday and he never got to meet his son as my dad was born the following July.
Trigger warning ahead -
In a sleepy town by the seaside in a little shack,
In towns and cities, you who were left, waited,
Hoping against hope, your wait was not ill-fated.
The sisters and brothers, the mothers and fathers too,
The wives and sweethearts, all seeing it through.
Closely watching each day, the news on TV,
Never knowing just what they might see.
Hoping to catch just a glimpse of him,
Is it him, it can't be, he looks so grim.
Each night a mother kneels down to pray,
For her beloved son so far away.
She lost his father at war before he was born,
If she lost him now her heart would be torn.
Dear God won't you please hear my plea,
Bring him back home again safely to me.
Sadly for many came that knock on the door,
And they knew then that they'd see him no more.
Slowly but finally that long year passed,
And he is now back home with you at last.
You endured the agony, heartache and pain,
Of never knowing if you would see him again.
But you waited faithfully, steadfast and true,
So here is my tribute just for you.
For my family who cared so much.

I love it @ENKELI .. It delves into the waiting that woman endure, while men be men. or the pawns
of men's bidding The waiting of woman has always stirred a force in me. Reminds me of those lines.
Slowly silently distantly gaze.
For silhouette riders in a red sunset haze..
Will things ever change.. Thankyou for taking me back to that place. That time.. tonys..

I'm going to wrap up my night on the forum by sharing here something I wrote, very nervous to do so!
The Bottleman
You whispered sweet nothings as we gazed over empty seas,
When the dark clouds rolled in I fell to my knees.
You didn't see.
The suffocating thickness of the warm breeze,
The way your deception put me at ease.
We were free.
The remaining blood vessels that refused to freeze,
You had already departed but I begged 'stay with me please?'.
I can't flee.
My breath was taken and replaced with a wheeze,
This heart is just glass for the bottleman to seize.
It's not me.

Re: Living with Loneliness
Still on your park bench, sad letters all around. I think @PeppyPatti the coals you rekindled, have summoned the lonely hearts from afar to seek warmth and share pain.
@Rollon @PeppyPatti and @Oaktree @Appleblossom Families, fathers, youngest sons, daughters estranged,
Break ups n divorce.. Your pains, a whole lot worse than mine. The street has only, competitors..
No real friends and family to mourn
@Dolphin1 15.. and @Lila3 in your secret garden. Your letters captured for me the essence of a kind of salvation that works for some, like us. Thankyou. Loneliness spans all , from this bench,
to the ivory towers that shade it. Sleep found me eventually on your park bench and I woke with
my feelings in my hand.
LONELINESS.
Yesterdays papers down cold empty streets
winters wind whisks paper stands.
Dogs of despair with nothing to bark at
Cold comforts news paper gloved hands.
Flickering neon's protesting the damp
Tattered moths fooled by the false
Icy blue light depraving the night
Psychoses the fear quickened pulse.
A time when as youths
Sweethearts in phone booths
Laughed back that winters death stare .
Old sodden in sin
Keeps raining within
No phone calls
No letters
Despair..
Holed shoes shuffling rings through the grease pools
Down lanes night lovers once walked.
Memories on bar stools
Closed ears to old fools
Bare park bench where secrets one stalked.
Deprived of a chance too crippled to dance
Born from our withdrawal wombs.
She wrapped still born child
In a centre fold smile
Ghosts scarred with rusty spoon wounds.
My one person que
For damper n cold stew
and black coffee left to go cold.
On lonely hearts pages
Ghosts freed from the rages
Now welcomes us into their fold..
Newspapers wrapped around cheap hot meal chips
The oil aglow on our poverty lips
Death notice page races
From cruel winds embraces
Hunger and loneliness carved into faces
Caressed by lost loves finger tips..
And that's what loneliness looks like as a street kid. Thankyou for enduring.

Re: Living with Loneliness
@TAB Jynx moved the loneliness to here for me and I realized I never tagged you bro and you know the street only to well.. Its a bout a quarter way to the standard I'm gunna need to get these creased brows
moved. BUT YOU, gave me a theme n thats all I needed. The morphing of real love, , to grey then to AI love. . . n the fall to real real love again... That's all I needed, . . . n busy fingers are half way through it already ,
I'm gunna mention you and how I got the idea tomorrow , if thats ok, so thankyou very much TAB.. tonys..
