Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!
hey there @Swinglifeaway welcome to the forums!
being a carer can be super full-on and exhausting, your kids are really lucky to have someone as caring as you to look out for them. sorry to hear that things have been tricky. i can see that you're really determined to find the right supports for her, have you checked out Our services – Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect)? i wonder if they can perhaps help you find more consistent support that fits your daughter's needs. we've also got this thread for ADHD/ADD that you might want to check out Wait what did I come into this thread for again? O... - SANE Forums
hope you've been able to take some time to look after yourself too! i imagine looking after everyone else can take a toll on your energy levels, do you have self-care/supports in place for yourself?

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!
Thanks for the reply. We are mostly looking for supports for the bpd at this stage because she won't engage in therapy for anything not even the asd or adhd. We are pretty across the autism/adhd space but the bpd space has been a bit more overwhelming and tricky to navigate. Finding the right support has been hard. And there's not a lot of choice where we are.

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!
Hi @Swinglifeaway I just wanted to pop by and leave a few links that might be helpful in learning more about BPD. The first one that comes to mind is a thread here on the forums whch you can check out here.
SANE also has some great info on the website: Borderline personality disorder (BPD)
I hope these are helpful!

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!
Hi @AvPD @San-dee how are your days going?
@San-dee hiking can be really therapeutic can't it? I just did my first few overnight hikes this year and it was great to pull me into the present and not have to think about anything other than walking, taking in the sights, setting up a place to sleep, and then walking again the next day. I also like to run for similar reasons, you're just focusing on that task for a little bit, plus you get the sense of achievement after!
It's funny because there'll be times when I was hiking or when I'm on a run and I'm just thinking "ow, I'm sore! I've got a blister! This sucks, why am I doing this??" but then it's over and I can't wait to do it again haha

Re: Newbie's Social Club - Come make some friends!
In the past I have loved hiking. I am really not fit enough now. In the past I did a 3 week stretch on the Bibbulman track in Western Australia. I walked from Kalamunda to Collie. I loved waking up in the forest with the beautiful sound of birdsong. Yes I must agree it was very grounding. I hope to do the whole track someday.

Certainly nothing better than slogging up a mountain and your only thoughts are about the next step and your breathing, there's no room for the constant worrying thoughts
