Sorry it has taken so long to reply @Sophia1 !
I think we've (especially on a site like this) all had hard times, but thanks for your sympathy
Ahh, breathing- so easy to do. Actually hard not to. But I know what you mean 🙂
I've finally managed to rack up a solid week of a breathing meditation each night. As I joked in my group therapy yesterday- it's only taken How Many decades of in and out patient treatment to get on a roll with it?!!! Learned and applied many other skills over the journey...but the 'easiest' one has proven the hardest
Writing has definitely helped/saved me. There was a period where my illness and meds left me unable to create but thankfully it seems to be happening again
So what do you write?
(I also follow a similarly spontaneous method of writing)
My mate and I share a taste in a pretty wide range of music.
I think we need to sit down sometime and have a real crack at it. Figure out something we want to say, then work out how to say it
Anyway, I'll stop this reply from getting any longer!
Will keep sharing
Hope you are well 🙂

Something silly:
Don't Mention the Smell!
I have some shoes that talk to me
They speak of things I do not see
Tales of lives that I did not know
Word from the world where small things grow
-
There's Alf, the ant, with a real bad limp
That he got in a fight with a flea
Who had the nerve to call him a wimp!
Alf won, but he buggered his knee
And Sue, the snail, who was hit by hail
It cracked her shell and made her life hell
But just when it seemed her hope would fail
She met a nice crab wanting to sell
--
A home to gum and towering crumbs
A land of holes and wandering soles
With tongues tied taut and eyes full of lace
My shoes help me walk through this strange place
---
I don't believe all they have to say
But they bring some sunshine to my day
Its amazing what our shoes can tell…
Just never, ever mention the smell

A random poem...
Isolated
The ancient art of eye contact
Is a ritual best observed
When the stars above align
In majestic complications
Within this hairline fracture in time
Resides a rare opportunity
For fears to fade and hopes to raise
The prospects of conversation
An isolated accident?
Or evidence of attraction?
Will gravity remain a law
When the world turns upside down?
The vast expanse of the unknown
Unfolds before me with a glance
Beckoned forth to face a future
Where the only thing certain is

Hello @StuF
You truly have a gift.
Interesting that you shared a poem with me about isolated as I self isolate.
Your experience of this concept is interesting and I love not only the whole; in particular the final line..
Then again it is not final is it...
So lovely to hear from you.
I have been worried about you.
Thank you again for sharing.
I strongly believe that it is an honour to be invited to share another's writing whether in whatever form.
I am attempting to write. One day I will go through a myriad of pages and patch them all together somehow.
It will take much longer than one day laugh.
I will probably be found covered in cobwebs surrounded by chaotic paperwork; pen poised in my hand and a smile on my face.
Write when you feel you can and when you want to.
Sophia 1
Thank you

@Sophia1 Thanks for your response and kind words 🙂
Sorry it was a while between postings. I find it difficult to choose a poem from my collection to share. There are plenty, but I tend to find fault with most, if not all
I hope you can write what you wish to. But I like the image of pen in hand with a smile on your face! Obviously would be better without the having passed bit, but hey
I hope you are well and have a great weekend

Thank you @StuF
No need to apologise just relieved that you are back.
I think that anyone who writes is their own worse critic if they are authentic.
I am not talking about the Mills and Boon crap.
I have written a few poems; possible pieces of prose...
I really do not know the formats or technicality.
I just write when stuff comes into my head Stuf.... I love playing with words.
Most of what I have written was at a time when I was in a dark place and is far too morose to post on here.
I might have even ditched it. It stirred up emotions in me every time that I read it which was not that often.
You asked me what I write now.
I only ever write down thoughts that appear from nowhere in my head and I sense that I need to put them on paper. I cannot explain it any better than that.
There is no one single subject other than my brain processing thoughts around memories possibly. Not that simple.
So random.
I wrote a poem the other day that was very basic. It was based on a tune that popped into my head and my words were about mother, son. Sad reality.
I would love to write a song and I would love for you to write a song as you have so much material that as you are a musician along with your friend I know that you can.
We have a family member in the music scene who is well known in a certain category.
He started from writing down the stuff in his head.
Years ago I bought a guitar from a music studio where I began classical music lessons.
Life became too hectic with work, boys, school, after school activities, committees, transport let alone running a household. So guitar has travelled with me but no more music lessons.
Husband has fixed the strings but the neck is not quite how it should be.
Sounds like me.
Take care
Look forward to reading what you want to share next.

To quote you "I just write when stuff comes into my head Stuf.... I love playing with words."
That kinda sums up my process most of the time, too! After a while, I try and steer it in a direction, but yeah, I don't plan much to begin with at least 🙂
It would be cool if you felt like sharing some of your writings, but there is zero expectation
I hope to write a song (or preferably songs) with my mate...we'll get there!
As for playing an instrument- man, that would be great! But I don't think it's gonna happen at this stage. You should maybe give it another go if you have the time and space now...
Anyway, you take care too. I'll be back...soonish!

An old poem. I like the title more than anything 🙂
A Complete Fragment of My Imagination
Near the mountain's peak, peering through the cracks
In the floorboards of places where Love plays
There the angels meet, borne on wings of wax
To catch glimpses of secrets from the days
To come…
