@TAB I hope all goes well with your tests etc.
I too also have to lose weight, having gained after quitting smoking 18 months ago. My doc suggested more exercise but I am really unmotivated if I have to do it alone. When shire aquatic and fitness centre reopens my friend and I are planning on going together but in the meantime I am trying unsuccessfully to shift the weight. Doc also said it wasn't just the smoking but also hormonal changes and medication.
What are you going to do regarding weight loss? I am open to anything (except exercising alone!) at this stage. I eat plenty of fruit and veg but coming from a farming background we also eat a fair bit of meat.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd be really thankful.
Take care, happy Friday night x

@TAB I don't know your age but I know as we get older it gets harder to lose weight doesn't it.
Your diet sounds well balanced and doable so I hope you succeed.
I am thinking I might try one of the home delivered meal kit options and choosing diet options but at the moment I can't afford them. My mum and one of my girlfriends swear by them and it means I still get to cook which I enjoy.
You got this, you can do it!

Well @ENKELI .. I love a homework assignment. Whilst I recommend vegie juice to
@saturnzoon , because of her teeth. The truth is, it doesn't work that stomach hard. Lots of low carb vegies. Roughage.. Bowl of sliced carrots n celery in soy n lemon juice. Fridge snacks. But for me the best thing is bodybuilding. To grow and maintain even a small amount of extra muscle burns a lot of energy. To build muscle you need low, slow, repetitions.
every second day to give your muscles repair and build time. Most bodybuilders over work their
muscle's and burn them out so good books or magazine is essential. This is not about fitness. Its
purely an increase muscle mass mission. Not suggesting you become Arnold Schwarzenegger,
But he had to eat up to 4 chickens a day just to hang on to that muscle. Your metabolism goes off the charts, so make sure your thyroid is healthy. I found it, the least amount of effort for the most benefit
regards eating whatever I wanted and still keeping body fat down.
OH . . you don't have weights. Don't need them. Buckets of sand and a length of pipe, You can
make weights heaps of different ways. Swimming.. But are you near water.
Push ups, pull ups , curls with the buckets of sand. Bench press with the pipe and buckets.
Its a science and a way of life, and it does wonders for mental health too. .
Mate . . Pole dancing or just dancing.. That would be social.. Well thats my instalment. I used to teach weights so i know what it can do.. Always here if you need to ask or chat. But . . . The person I always double check things with is @Former-Member .. She is like a dog with a frisbee when it comes to researching the
latest. 9 times out of ten, she will have an answer to anything I ask.
@saturnzoon .. Your post about shopping is the best one I have ever got from you. You actually
went out, and had a nice time, in a social setting. About damn time mate. Keep up the good work..
Hugs to you all. . . tonys..

thanks so much @tonys for your useful information. Due to neck damage I am limited to lifting 5kg only.
I've also heard using cans of soup or whatever make good weights.
The biggest thing I lack is the motivation to get up and do it. BD (Before diagnosis) I used to walk a min of an hour a day. Of course I had my dog then and she was a border collie so she needed the exercise. Once I got diagnosed my motivation went out the window and I have struggled to do anything that requires actually getting up and doing things. We have a shire fitness/aquatic centre within walking distance to me that is undergoing refurbishment so once that opens I am going to join with a girlfriend who lives nearby so that will help. I just need to cut down on the snackadees!!
I am about a 45 minute drive away from the beach otherwise I would definitely do as you suggest. Walking on sand is good for you I heard?
Again, thanks for your suggestions, have a happy evening 😊

@TAB I tried to reply to your message but I got a message saying not found so I'm not sure if you deleted the message or my computer is being a pest.
Re age, I am 6 years younger so I understand the struggles regarding weight loss. Like you a kilo here and there piled on and I had the worst year of my life last year where I know I ate the wrong things, as my friend said, I ate my feelings. I can go all day without eating and then have a decent dinner with plenty of veg but then I get what I call the midnight munchies. Within an hour of taking my night meds I crave sugar so I'll have lollies, chocolate or ice cream. I am trying to change that and have bought sugar free substitutes but they are so bloody expensive! A small bag of sugar free smarties is the same as a large block of chocolate.
We'll get there though, because we can do anything 😁

Ok, well that swim centre sounds exciting. 5kg is good. If you curl that real slow reps, believe me
couple of weeks you'll feel it. Sit in a chair and do leg raises with 5 kg, and you probly wont talk to me for a week LoL. Yes motivation. Thats my problem. I work heaps around the property but since
my surgery I don't leave the place. Every one comes to me so I'm socially lazy. Don't know anyone in my new town. I'll have to work on that. I do go back to my old town, but this one is like a different planet. Well bed for me. Gnite .. Mate. Hope you sleep like a baby.. @ENKELI
Nite everybody.. tns..

ohh yeah sometimes I delete things @ENKELI if think i was out of order eg, but if this subject prob mods as its a bit touchy re rules
I am slowly coming to accept that eating is poss my main source of pleasure these days and I am not the best judge of how am going, can think doing alright but portions too big or junk food too often etc and veg is lucky to be an afterthought
icecream banned here. have iceblocks on very hot days, thats not necessary either. I buy sausages and eat whole pack as only me. just examples of me kidding myself. then sometimes wont exercise for 1-2 months and ... yeah well , rinse and repeat ..
