@Glisten my parents left their homelands in Europe to get away from their families as they were violent alcoholics and sadistic abusers and I have never tried to connect with relatives for that reason. My brother did and they all turned out the same according to cousins he met online. Better not to mix with folk like that. Sometimes it pays to leave well alone

Certainly time for reflection for me, @Glisten. I do have a lovely niece to share xmas greetings with though. I hope yours is a pleasant day.

Thats amazing you're getting a car @Historylover! How lush. I'm really stoked. You will be able to get around town which is good. Its hard on foot. I've been this way since my Mitsubishi Magna conked out. Have been without a car for years.
It does make it somewhat difficult trying to get around but I manage. You were saying your feet hurt walking so now you have a vehicle that can get you to places which is nice. Its hard making that first step trying to invest in something big like a car. I hope you get lots of use out of it.
I don't think I will be buying a car. I'm semi regional and its long distances to get to places. My hulk of a car used to use 1/4 tank just getting 30 minutes down the road. So petrol was on the pricey side. In the end it just used to sit in my driveway as it was too expensive to run. That with insurance and regular servicing it all added up.
Yes Now & Zen clocks are cool. Theres something about them. When ebay had its hey-day before cheap imports you could get them. I don't know now. Etsy may be a better place to try for a good deal on a Now & Zen clock as they sell lots of preloved goods

Mine was a pretty big car. I used to have a Camira and when I got the Magna it was hard getting used to coz of its size. Don't know why it used more petrol I just assumed because it was a large vehicle. But fuel economy wasn't great even though it was a good reliable car. It was a great car to own compared to the Camira which had all kinds of electrical problems @TAB

Dunno @TAB all I know was I could not afford petrol on my budget. I would allocate money each fortnight for petrol and it just seemed to guzzle it very quickly. Have heard regular short trips can use more than long trips. That may be it possibly
Just worked out what healthy food I'm having for xmas. I don't drink alcohol and now I can't even have soft drinks. Will be doing carbonated water, coconut water with pomegranate arials floating in it with squeezed lime juice for a "champagne mocktail". No xmas dinner as such, can't indulge with diabetes, have my regular treats though and some nuts. I'm glad I don't have to go to a gathering and succumb to pressure with eating! 🙂
Check out this champayne mocktail. I'm giving it a go!

@TAByes I do buy meat
But cheaper organic lamb and beef mince or chicken stirfry strips which more affordable than other cuts.
Did see a lovely nut roast on a diabetes healthy christmas eating page. It was made of almond meal, chopped nuts, eggs and spinach. It looked healthy and yummy. Yes I do low GI too and just try and limit unhealthy fats as much as possible! 👍
