I said I'd bore you with some details. Having thrown the whole transfusion - actually infusion, I misspoke -into the good morning thread I should possibly elaborate.
Quick version is I had non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 1997. Successfully treated with chemo.
It returned on 2003, so I had a stem cell/bone marrow transplant. Quite new at the time. It was also successful - I've not had any direct cancer treatment since. 20 years!!!
Only downside of the process is that I have mildly suppressed immune system. Not a huge problem...but when I get things like colds (as I have recently) I end up going above and beyond! lol
Luckily, there's a medication I can take to help out my immune system- get less sick, less often. There is an argument for staying on it indefinitely, but it is costly (to the taxpayer thank god) and it means I get to hang out in a cancer ward for a few hours each month. Which really isn't bad, but yeah, loses its shine after a while. So I tend to come off it for a bit...before the cycle begins again.
Anyway,I feel like I'm holding my own pity party when I bring this stuff up. It would probably do me some good to talk more about it, but I've not found the 'right' place to do so.
Well...That ended up being longer than intended! lol
Thanks for reading if you made it this far 🙂

@TAB Sounds like you are slowly getting sorted. Step by step. The cold can really get into the bones and get us down. Having a house is always a challenge but there are benefits. Enjoy.
@StuF Sounds as if you have been through that experience before. Really taking it in your stride. I have never been hooked up. Though I have seen family in that situation. For many decades I did not seem to have time to read the news, so I guess I have been catching up in the last 10 years.
Take Care mate

Thanks @Appleblossom
I must say, ambulatory cancer wards (as in people in and out in a few hours) are actually positive places. I'm still one of the younger patients, but everyone there is motivated by the same thing. And the staff are fantastic.
My journey has had its moments, but others suffer far worse

Yeah sorry @Shaz51 - I probably should not have hijacked the good morning thread! Didn't think it through very well.
I've actually just got a nasty headache brewing so I'm gonna take something for it and get away from the screen for a little while to see if that helps.
Thank you for your support 🙂
